Hey I painted something! This is a photo of my beginning Alpha Legion team for SWA. The photo shows 6 but I have all 10 done now. While they are technically "Chaos" I view the AL more as free agents with their own agenda. Also not being a fan of the overly spiky and skull laden I used Mk3, Mk4 and some bits from the chaos marine sprues. Oh yeah, and a cape and head from the deathwatch. The champion and specialist are also magnetized so I can upgrade weapons as they advance.

I learned some new techniques doing these figures. It is the first time I have done sponge chipping and weathering with oils. The photo doesn't show the weathering as well as in person. I wanted them to look like they have been around for thousands of years. It was fun doing all details on the marines but I sure need to speed up the process. It took a long time to me.

They look super, well done - I look forwards to seeing more! :D

All that weathering on them faintly reminds me of the ones Marc Raley did a little while back (link).

They look stunning.
Lovely brushwork!
 :-* :-*

The Alpha Legion are probably my favourite Legion since I began reading all the HH novels some years ago (supplanting the Death Guard but dont tell anyone!). I really fancied doing a team for SWA but Chaos are not allowed Stealth Skills, which kind of killed that idea for me at the time.
Seeing these tells me to say 'Sod it!' and do them anyway.

Very very cool. I'm off to read about sponge chipping, never heard of it but if that's the result I want to!

I think she got in a few games last weekend.  I don't know how well they went.
