@hubbabubba: Cheers! Oh yes, the Brats are something special. Btw, the unreleasedness of the figures is also the reason why I don't drill out muzzles. And of course tabs stay on the feet (I had a surprisingly hard time finding slotta bases in my collection for all the lads! Glad I still had a stash of them with my 1st/2nd edition Space Orks. I guess I really have to order a bunch of slotta bases.), otherwise I'd get beaten with a stick. :D

@beefcake: The miracle of a carefully honed short attention span. :D Yeah, the Grom is fun. Gotta love a fat goblin.

@Daeothar: Thanks! Well, the original is more cheerful anyway. :D But it is an interesting sculpt, that's true. Maybe we'll see it get a release for TOW. Although I think that GW don't really do new characters for that (beyond some hits and some misses in terms of Bretonnians and TK for the initial release). Very, very interested to see how they proceed with TOW. It's a pretty interesting product.

@OSHIROmodels: Oh, thanks very much!

@MaleGriffin: Many thanks, that's very kind of you. I didn't post updates in a while due to the sort of projects I did recently. Whenever that happens and then I finally get to post updates again on a proper forum the positive feedback is a real motivation booster. It may sound silly after 20+ years of doing this on forums and such, but it's just still nice to get posts such as yours.

@aliensurfer: Cheers! (more on BA below)

@Mellal: Thanks kindly! I got several threads strewn across LAF, if you want to see more, or you can just follow the link in the signature if you want.

So I've been slooooooowly getting more painting done on the unreleased figures, whilst also getting side-tracked by putting together and painting giant cartoon robot plastic kits.

But I'm back to proper things now. :P Right now I got the unreleased Spyrer Matriarch from the early 2000s on the table and a proto-Fireprism made from Resin (I assume Armourcast). These models are far from perfect, so require some fixing, are a bit bumpy, etc. But it's an experience. :)

Btw, GW announced new Blood Angels things. I like the new Lemartes. Death Company look what you'd expect them to look like. What do you think?

@Mellal: Good to know, thanks! :) Hope you like the stuff I posted.

Heyhey, here's another one - the aforementioned Ork Painboy (I assume. He carries a huge syringe and a Choppa with saw-blade) with loads of bioniks.

Very interesting figure; I should post pictures from more angles, I guess. Hope you like him!

Awesome as usual  8) And another unusual mini as well!

Is the base rim blue for luck perhaps?  ;)

:D Pretty much, yeah. Customer's wish, actually. He detests black or dark bases or base rims.

Update: He also strongly dislikes black backgrounds! :D I'm not a huge fan either, but somehow I felt like experimenting last Tuesday. Anyway, here's something else interesting: WIP-pictures of what I believe is an Eldar proto-Fireprism. Apparently only 30 of this one were made by GW (possibly Armorcast, but I think it probably was GW themselves), but even that limited run seems to have been rough on the molds. The cast on the guy was quite a challenge. So I spent many hours filling, scraping, cutting, sculpting and filing and grinding before I got to painting. And right now it looks like that:

Hope you like it so far and happy weekend!

Stunning paintjob. It positively glows, the painting is so vibrant!

Just to help you out on what it is, the cast was by Monolith Games, which was run by Steve Mussared. Steve was a Golden Demon winner who had connections with the studio and was bidding for the rights to sell 40k vehicles. This was a prototype of the Epic scale Eldar Deathstalker. He also did a Falcon. Ultimately, the rights went to Armorcast and Epicast in the US, and only a handful of these prototypes were made.

Did he also produce a sort of eldar canoe model? I have a resin cast of an old prototype eldar vehicle that is a real pig of a cast but I've got no clue who made it.

This one?

No, that's an Epicast "Skimmer Hawk". It was a quasi-official release - Epicast produced it with some rules for 2nd edition.

There's some good info on the various resin licensed and unlicensed kits over at Collecting Citadel Minis Wiki:

Just caught up on several years of thread; wonderful and inspirational as always, and quite overwhelming too! The Eldar are particularly lovely.

@axiom: Thanks, and many thanks for the infos on the model! This is why I prefer forums over social media websites - people who know their stuff seem to be more plentiful on forums, or at least the relative amount of them seems to be higher. Also, useful information is stored and can be referred to.

@Mammoth miniatures: Thanks very much! Your comment about the paintjob led to very ambivalent feelings on my part. :D On the one hand "golden demon", yay! On the other hand I have this constant fear of being "old school". Of course I am, because I like the old GW stuff and towards the new stuff I have a much more neutral attitude, but I constantly worry about "not keeping up with the times". Which - frankly - I never did anyway (I'm almost entirely self-taught, trying to stay away from fashions and 'the latest big thing in figure painting' on principle, because I think that the thing doesn't change much), but somehow it's a thing. Weird. I think what also adds to the old school impression is that I more and more veer towards strong colour contrasts rather than overly accentuated highlights. Maybe that also stems from painting lots of colorful historical uniforms. Anyway, thanks for the kind comment. The 'skimmer hawk' I'm fairly certain I've seen before. I assume that rules for it would have appeared in Fanatic magazine? Or were they shipped with the model?

@Coenus Scaladingus: Thanks for the kind comment! Yeah, Eldar are always lovely, aren't they. :D

Today's my birthday, so I'm taking the day off. Which means that I'm off to paint the Marauder giant rather than painting what I SHOULD be painting. ;) Regular service will be resumed tomorrow.

Happy belated birthday! Where can I check out your Marauder giant paintwork? :)

I totally agree that forums can be a gold mine for information in a way that social media can't really replicate.
