The dwarves were OK (for Tolkien dwarves I prefer the Mirliton/Grenadier and Vendel/Sgt Major ones) but these orcs look the bees knees.  This makes me hopeful for the elves, but I won't hold my breath as most fantasy elf sculpts are not good representations of Tolkien elves.  I wonder which type of elves, if they are "Tolkien" ones, they will do; Noldor, Sindar or Silvan?

My, those scimitar are curved... Who's the sculptor?

Giorgio Bassani if I'm not mistaken.

They do look rather nice. It is good to get away from the GW style. If they are somewhat interchangeable with the other northstar kits the possibilities are endless.

Gorgio Bassani has been doing recent plastic sculpting for NorthStar so I imagine they're his work.

I like them.  A nice, classic look.  If you can have a classic look for goblins.

Precisely why I like them.  Not stylized like LOTR, and not overstylized like GW.  Just classic Hero Quest-esque goblins.  Just what I need for my dungeon crawl, etc.

They do look like the old Rankin Bass cartoon.

Really excited to see this game!

These are fantastic, as has already been said, they would be a perfect fit for Middle Earth (Tolkien's version, not Peter Jackson's).

I've always been put off of plastic figures (or any multi-part figures), I'm a gamer, not a modeler. But these might tempt me.

I agree with many here, they are tempting for the unstarted not-Jackson LotR project that has been gathering lead to it the last few years. I, too, want to see the elves.

I like those, I just wish they would ditch the integral bases.  There is no practical reason for them and they take a lot of work to get them to look decent.

Yes, why? They make absolutely no sense.

Pretty good. Those look like they would fit in fine with either the brilliant old Mithril Tolkien Orcs or the excellent Bronze Age "Frazetta-style" Orcs.

Anyway. Nice box. Would be good to know if they are compatible with the other Northstar boxes. I'm looking at you Frostgrave cultists!

Shorter legs would make them excellent Tolkien orcs. What a pity!

The Perry metals from early GW LOTR range are still the best in my opinion.

Why are the integral bases so thick?  Is that just part of a prototype process or something?
