French Revolution Swashbuckling minis
« on: 23 June 2017, 11:10:28 AM »
Does anybody know of 28mm miniatures that could be used for swashbuckling adventures set in the French Revolution?

I'm thinking 1793, when the young Republic is fighting for survival against threats on all fronts, with several European armies invading the country, the old ruling class plotting, and revolt brewing all around.

Distinctive features would be tricornes, ponytails, realistic weapons, either male or female, with a more civilian / soldierly / aristocratic look (I would adapt the characters' background to what is commercially available).

You might find something useful in the Foundry French Revolution range. Warning: these are 25mm figures, not 28s:

I don't have an answer to your question, but for myself I'd really like a killer pair of Mme. Defarge and Miss Pross figures setting to kill each other. They'd make smashing ornaments. Oh, and Mme. Defarge and the Vengeance while we're about it, at their knitting below Madame G.

You might take a look at some of the Carnevale miniatures, now being produced by TT Combat:

Black Scorpion's pirate range is tall (more in the 32mm region) but I use them with 28mm with no problem. Some potential ones:
