Is that a pack of Luckies in his helmet band?

From the look of that incoming VC force, it better be.

Kickoff for our KOW campaign last night which is set in the Border Princes region of the Warhammer Old World.
6 guys playing 3 games. Two games of Kings of War and a homebrew skirmish game that will have a minute effect on the campaign as well.

My battle was Chaos Warriors(Varangur) Vs Chaos Dwarves.

A game of 'Age of Penda' by Dan Mersey. James Morris has made a special 'off-set grid' battlemat as described in the rules to play the game on.
Some of the figures are from Dan Mersey's Wiglaf miniatures range, the majority are from James' 15mm Dark Age collection.
Nice & fast, we played two games in the evening, scored one each.

Played my first game of Horus Heresy at the FLGS in a 'Narrative League' played over 10 weeks. This is more or less set up for new players to learn the game from the more experienced and it seems to be working okay, There are 14 starters so far and three self-identified noobs (myself very much included).

Anyway, my Sons of Horus went down the the tricksey and false (that's a compliment, of course) Alpha Legion.

Above: Terminators deepstrike but land off-target. they're 12 inches away from my dudes so they charge really just to get a bit closer for next turn. However, on boxcars they crash into the legionaries.

Above: My Praetor gets ready to charge into the Alpha dudes holding an objective. Good shooting and crap saving sees him go down but this activates his 'Armour of Pride' trait where he comes back with up to his staring compliment of wounds. All he needs to do is make a moral roll getting 10 or under on 2D6. Yup, boxcars and the game is over.

Nice.

I read the batrep on your blog and the spotting mechanic is a very interesting concept.

A shot from last night's game using slightly modified Galactic Heroes rules as we may start a campaign soon, with each player taking one of the Factions on the frontier world of Outland, and just running with it to see where it takes us......

Thank you.

The rules are somewhat "unusual" for an air combat game by design.

My Goths being seriously discomfited by my wife's Byzantines. It was clearly my turn to be thumped. After two rounds my Goths had lost their king, their Alan allies, most of their nobles, and their hope of recovering the Kingdom of the Goths and the Italians. Lee lost one element of Hun mercenaries (and that was fording a river in spate).
The laws of probability do not apply to my dice in wargames or to my finesses in bridge.

Great games above - keep 'em coming...

Got to play my first Wings of Glory game at the local club. The first game was beginners luck as I was the last surviving aircraft, though I  only got to damage other aircraft not shoot them down and then in the second game my objective was to photograph some ships but I landed up flying off the table so into the water with a splash LOL.

See: https://www.wycombewarband.org/ The club also has a Facebook page.

It is a fun game when playing with others though one should not take it too seriously given the overall lack of realism.

Little Wars TV did a nice scenario for Wings of Glory see:

One can download the scenario on their website, sign up for free for their free stuff,  see: https://www.littlewarstv.com/

This chap prints 3d wargame models and they were at Colours 2022 he has a nice range of very well priced 1/144 scale WWI models. See: https://www.syborg3dprinting.co.uk/
