Being tempted by 10mm again
« on: July 08, 2017, 12:44:32 PM »
Heaven help me, I am getting 10mm urges again. It's not like I haven't got 10 years worth of 28mm projects to complete.
But early this year I painted a quick 15mm army for AK47 and rather enjoyed it and that has sort of broken my resistance to going smaller...6mm is beyond the pale of course.
But 10mm...mmmm- there is sort of something exciting about cramming a lot of figures on a base and 10mm seems just about the proper size.
I could maybe do periods that I could not afford to do in 28mm, for instance ACW.
Pendraken seem to be the best , but what other manufacturers are out there? And how do they all compare/match up with each other?

[edit] I just found Kallistra. They call themselves 12mm.  In practice are the Kallistra and Pendraken compatible?

I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

I use the Old Glory for 10mm ACW as they are on strips and paint up really quickly but I also have Pendraken and they work well with OG. Kallistra are indeed 12mm and are too big to work with 10mm figures, they are decent and if I was starting the ACW I would be tempted to use them. :)

I have Kallistra, Pendraken, Newline and Riever in 10mm but mainly just Chinese and Far Eastern armies.  The Kallistra Mongols which are pretty nice are virtually twice the size of the Pendraken ones, almost like older 15mm ranges and definitely not compatible with each other.

Ah no Kallistra for me then. It seems like they are the odd ones out while everything else is compatible. Thanks for the info Svennn

I would take a look at the kallistra offering before dismissing .... the range is complete for my needs.  They are made from lead free pewter, so are lighter and take paint well.
