PBI in 28mm update page2 20/09/17
« on: 04 August 2017, 07:22:59 PM »
I have decided to make a games table for PBI WWII rules by Peter Pig.this is a grid based game using 6 inch squares designed for 15mm figures. However, at my age, I cannot see them very well so I am doing square foot terrain and 28mm figur
I went down the local wood yard and got 10mm ply cut into two foot squares. Then off to local fabric land to purchase 3 metres of teddybear fur. A bit of shaving, cutting and pasting followed. I have ended up with this: ...

I now have 6 foot by 10 foot of games table. I just have to come up with a way of discreetly marking the squares. I put on a few bits of terrain just to give a rough idea of what a game layout would look like.  When the table is more heavily populated with terrain, it should look much better.  This will be an ongoing project.

I think your table looks good!
You actually do not need squares.
For 28 mm miniatures simply use one square foot!
On a small 2 foot square table you have 4 squares!

Please explain what's been frustrating about posting, and then we can help.
If you're not familiar with putting your words and pictures onto an online forum, it can take a bit of getting used to.
If you are familiar with using an online forum, well this one works much the same as all the others.

Welcome to the forums, sam's dad. :) The table's already looking great. I'm sure a table this size is the dream of many people. I never gave PBI a try myself, but I guess I should.

How does PBI play with 28mm figures? Is it much the same 'feel' as 15mm? Just asking as it's something I'm considering for a future project.

hi james ,i personally think it feels better in 28mm probably because you invest a little bit more in the larger scale .I have changed a few things, have added a bit to the armour rules ,changed the pining rule and direct fire HE, and added an extra terrain category of high partial ,which may or may not block los. A much under estimated set of rules. I use the 2006 set, have not got round the new version yet

Aha that's what the pile of 2' boards was all about! I was so busy crushing your meagre force I didn't check what game you had planned for them. The teddy fur terrain is great to play on by the way. We are spoilt, 9x5 feels like a normal table now. 6x4 pa! That's a skirmish game table.

I am watching this one with interest.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

2019 Painting Challenge :
figures bought: 500+
figures painted: 57
9 vehicles painted
4 terrain pieces scratchbuilt

That vegetable garden is a standard of wargame terrain I will attain. Amazing!
