Figures look great I wish I had that type of painting skills for my Medieval figures.

Beautiful game.Absolutely inspiring. May I ask how many figures are there and how long did it take to paint all that lot to such an amazing standard?

Thanks for the kind words - mine was the lesser contribution of the four Bodkins.

Re the time taken to build the collection, it varied. I think that Dave Andrews and Matt Bickley had been (independently) amassing their armies for over 2 years or more. There is plenty of conversion work in them, apart from the time it takes to paint all the heraldry. For Dave Imrie and myself, we added some extra French units over the last 6-9 months.

Re the Hail Caesar army sheets, we didn't use any. The relative size of the armies was dictated by the size of Dave Andrew's English army, which he'd pretty much completed. We aimed to scale the size of the French force needed (pretty much mounted knights and crossbowmen) to reflect the larger French force at the battle (as far as the sources allow us to estimate). Hence we needed at least 300 French model knights on the table, but just fell short of the target. However, we hope to play Crecy again in 2018 somewhere and we will definitely have a larger French army done for that, and play on a wider table too!

I think there should be some more game pics in a future 'Wargames Illustrated' sometime, btw.

All the best, Simon.

Sorry - I think I misunderstood your question.

We improvised and Jack Glanville kindly did some amendments to create Early HYW troop types to fit with Hail Ceaser. They worked well on the day and jack did all the umpiring on the day, which helped immensely.

Regards, Simon.
