A german book written by an officer 1901 titled "Taktische Beispiele aus den Kriegen der neuesten Zeit. 1880-1900" dealing with the French operations in Tonkin.

there is also another source that should be exhaustive..those uniform booklets published by Club Francais de la Figurine Historique with, as the comment said, plenty of plates...last year i wrote them in order to buy the books (among them, in addition to the ones on Tonkin also some other good titles) but never received any answer...maybe our French friends of this forum if interested in that period/range could try to tackle those probably excellent sources:
