[COMMERCIAL] New in 2020/21/22 Dahomey & Madagascar 1890 campaigns fr. Gringo40s

Gents (and Helen) Gringo40s will be expanding their exsisting ranges
considerably ie Garibaldi and the Maximillian Adventure....but to
compliment our New Opium Wars range I have commissioned troops
and enemies for the French campaign in Dahomey in 1892 and the follow
up campaign in Madagascar in 1895...the first campaign is thrilling to
read about with gunbosts ..six foot high grass...and best of all the legendary Dahomay Amazons the likes of which the French had never faced..Madagascar was as exotic though not so healthy for the French ..with the French foreign legion featuring heavily in both campaigns....Tonkin campaign is well underway as well part two of the master plan!!
I hope this new proves of interest to all the LAF readers/experts/and pundits.   regards Ged

Fantastic! I have the old Dixon Dahomey range and it was always too small to do much with. Really need more Amazons! Looking forward to see what you come up with...

that opens a fantastic new theater ...French in Sub Saharian Africa..(AOF-AEF)
the tirailleurs sénégalais are very useful..in fact they participated in every possible campaign of the the 3rd Republic...they can even be fielded vs Tuaregs, Dervishes, Toucoleurs, Rabah slavers, Azande, Cote d'Ivoire rebels and, in a realist "what if" scenario vs the Anglo - Egyptians for the possess of Fachoda...
but from practically all accounts i read they campaigned, contrary to popular newspaper plates, barefoot or in sandals...the image with serouals or blue trousers, white leggings and boots could be associated only to the parade in Champs Elysées with Comandant Marchand after Fachoda...Africans did'nt like boots!

thanks for your splendid input..these troops are a favourite
of mine...in real life some were pretty merciless...a porter
who stumbled in the Madagascar campaign was run through
by one.the officer when complained to by a French doctor said
ignore them they were a bit "queer lot in their ways¬) gulp!
still they held their own with the French foreign legion and French
Marine infantry...........another interesting print attached

Have you read "Our Friends Beneath the Sands" by Martin Windrow? Lots of material on all of the legions campaigns including those in indochina, Madagascar and Dahomey. Brilliant book.

Would the French troopers wear gaiters or have the pant legs as shown in the Soldier picture?

These troops look like they will may work for Adowa Italians...what do you think?

Gringo -would you be able to get multi pose sculpts..perhaps 8 variants for the troopers for skirmish gaming variation please
