Especially interested in the Dahomey range as there's a TV series announced about the Dahomey Amazons not to be released soon though, think they will start production this year.

I also am very interested in Dahomey Wars as well as other West African campaigns. Archinard in West Sudan or Samori come to mind.

i imagine what could we expect from such a  TV series especially if produced in Hollywood....Dahomey Amazons fighting for women lib, Third World and environment....maybe their foes will bot be the Foreign Légion or Tirailleurs but harvey Weinstein in person

Guess it will be good as it's a partnership between Hollywood and Nollywood. With Nollywood being the biggest movie and television producer of the African continent based in Nigeria so think it will be alright.

In that case..no thanks...i've already experimented with that  sort of anticolonialist hotchpotches amatorial moovies like the soporific "Lion of the Desert" or even worst "Capitaines des ténèbres"...better let's see again Four Feathers

Fascinating... 

And since a long time I've also been expecting ranges of miniatures for another French colonial theatre in Africa: "Soudan occidental" (Western Sudan, = today Mali and surrounding areas).

There are surprising (and forgotten) books written by some officers and civilians who were there, on the BNF (French National Library) website, talking about adventures in Tombouctou, and from Sénégal to Bamako; pictures of "tata" (typical villages earth fortifications) and even the plans of a small boat built by French Navy officers in Bamako to explore the Niger river (the French could not start this from the sea because of geography and because Nigeria was a British colony).

I have some nice miniatures for this from Castaway Arts, but their range doesn't seem to expand any more.

nice to see someone has finally discovered the ubiquity of the french colonial uniforms and troops and their usefulness for historical wargaming.

Now that two (actually more) major miniature companies are competing in massively reproducing the british colonial world, it is getting a bit boring between Cape and Cairo. Or not?

I've been interested in French operations in West Africa,Indochina and other areas for a long time (my Dutch -Aceh war also  ). A good book is Conquest of the Western Sudan by A.S. Kanya-Forstner.
