Command and figures that fit with FireForge please?
« on: February 07, 2018, 03:42:16 PM »
Hi,

I have painted 40 spearmen, bowmen and crossbowmen in total now from Fireforge boxes and would like to treat myself to the odd command figure or character. Whose range would you Chaps recommend please? The figures I have are the foot sargeants and bow set.

Thanks

If you enjoy the Fireforge figures, would the command figures from their Templar infantry set work? That seems to contain plastic parts to make a standard bearer, hornblower and a couple of foot knights as leaders.

Or would you like to get some metal figures instead?

I use a lot of Gripping Beast metals with my Fireforge dominated plastic armies.

I also have a lot of Fireforge plastics, but always shied away from the Foundry figures because I heard they were smaller 25mm and wouldn't mix well. Would love to know if that's not the case because they are beautiful figures.

Easy.
Foundry's original Baron's War range:

The best feudal range out there...

Great range but smaller than current 28mm ranges.

Thanks Guys, plenty to think about here. I had never considered Foundry because of what I believed to be a size difference but having looked at their page I think I will have to try a few.

I had thought of using Lion Rampant as the main ruleset (the figures are individually based) what rules are popular at the moment?

Claymore castings might work, bit late but nice dynamic poses

Regarding the Foundry Baron's Wars range, I would like to point out that they are more realistically proportioned than the Fireforge figures, which tend to be of somewhat exaggerated ("heroic") proportions; that is, the Fireforge figures tend to have bulky bodies, thick limbs, large heads and massive weapons.

I do have some of the original Baron's Wars figures (the Citadel version with slottabases).

I think the Crusader Figures look simular to Gripping Beast and would fit, too

I checked yesterday a few of the foot knights I have from the original Citadel releases, and they measured around 26-27 mm from the soles of their feet to the eye slits of their great helmets.

I love the Crusader figures, their best range in my opinion but I’d love to see more figures added.
