Finally, I found back to the hobby. After a depressive phase of having the gritty reality killing my mojo, I used the sunny weather and based all my Chaos Dwarfs with magnets for DBx (28mm/60x30).
Now I’m eagerly waiting for DBF and will play D3H2 in the meantime.

Better pics to follow!

Excellent work! Chaos dwarves are a unique army- they don’t really look like anything else. I like what you have done with yours.

They look great!

I hadn't heard about DBF - plunging down that rabbit hole now!

Awesome!

Big hat Chaos Dwarves are my favourite WHFB army, and now they're available in 15mm too?  8)

HASHUT! Gezundheit...
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thank you! Yes those little rascals don’t get the love they deserve. GW hasn’t continued the range and most 3rd party producers go for the brutal dwarfs of later editions. I do appreciate the tongue in cheek approach of the big hats.

a good army.

Thanks, Louie!

I’ve got the playtest rules by Mr Thomas of D3B2 fame. It’s already a very nice ruleset. Better wording, nice layout and some spot-on LotR armylists complete with special rules! It could be what I was looking for. They kept the simplicity from HotT and added just enough granularity to decently represent armies from Warhammer or Tolkien. - Basically it’s HotT 3.0

Awesome!

Hashut be praised indeed! There is a nice little range on etsy under the name Admirality Miniatures. They fit perfectly with Demonworld and Copplestone (i.e. „big“ 15mm) and paint up really well. It’s not 100% complete, but that’s where 3d printing will come in.

I rebased the Blades, they looked too puny with 3/base - I wanted to let them have a nice battleline, but that didn’t work. - Except for the command bases which are fine.

Here they are now with 4 models per base.

Yeah, that works! The higher density makes them look like a more solid battle line, especially in the pic with all 6 bases ranked up.

I’ve struggled a bit in my own 15mm fantasy project with how many figures to put on each base, and how best to place them on each base to get the effect I wanted. I eventually came to the conclusion that it works best to go with what looks best for the specific army, rather than try and standardize figure numbers (DBX- style). Some figures look solid with 4 to a base, but smaller figures would need 5 or even 6 to fill the space enough for it to look “right” for the same troop type. I just go with the look that feels right, and explain to my opponent before the game what each type is. (I strictly play social games, rather than tournaments, so no problems.)

In any case, I think you have a great look with these bases.

Thanks, that’s actually very helpful, because I’m still struggling with that!

Stupid past-me based all the Chaos Dwarfs on cents. It started as a small skirmish project and went „slightly“ out of control.
I still have Khorne, Tzeentch and Nurgle based on money (the cheapest way to do it!), so there will be more bases to do.

Once I have a decent number of bases, however, I want to start 15mm pseudo-Middle Earth and I was thinking for days now about how many minis per base. I like your approach.

And here are the blunderbusses. These work actually quite nicely as 3/base. I did them either all preparing to set aim or fire, so I can build two ranks which I think looks good.

One guy is aiming in the wrong direction. This will have consequences! (I’ll just turn him around, but he’ll probably have to explain this to his superiors first!)

And here are some more detailed shots of the rest of the units which I took while basing my chaos army.

It’s time for the hobgoblins. First the archers.
