The plot thickens as two ostensibly "good guys" battle it out with hot lead!  lol

Oops, not for the first time I'm so much in my little 'lore bubble' I forget that I'm the only one living in my alternative history...

The "Auxiliary Police" were formed by Prime Minister Oswald Moseley, to deal with "State Security"  Recruits come from all the armed forces and civilians, and in remote places like Ascension they wear whatever clothes and uniforms they have, with black armbands. Of course in the UK they'd be supplied woth a full uniform.

"Colonel Lawrence" is a name they use a lot; The name itself is a pseudonym used by an Agent Provocateur during the time of the 'Luddites' in the UK, (roughly between 1811 and 1817) The Agents Provocateur would whip up workers into a frenzy and then get them to attack a mill, knowing full well that it was a trap. The person who used this name at the time used other names too, and their real name is lost to history, so it seemed an appropriate one to use.

The overall story arc of these games will probably settle down as various groups vying for political power, with the RNAS Police trying to keep order. In the meantime a number of mafiaesque groups are tryng to control the commercial district and the gambling/vice scene, and other leagues like the "Aroura Crew" operating as privateers in the chaos.

Eventually, of course, I'll get my act together and make some kind of Mad Scientist laboratory with associated devices, minions, robots, etc...

I could easily have enough stories in this scenario to last me a life time the way this is going, and I'd already planned out a completely different story for a "German Confederation" scenario...

Of course, the name is supposed to make them sound like the good guys, calling them "Auxiliary Police" makes them sound official but non-threatening. It's the same idea as the German N*zi party celled their thugs the the "stewards group" or the "Sports and gymnastics movement".

However, if you google the names of the characters, they will show up as British supporters of the twerp with the moustache.

I think I probably spend at least as long thinking up Lore as I do playing TT games...

A Racing interlude using "Maximilian 1934" rules...

In my alternative history, “The Races” are illegal but tolerated because most of the participants have 'connections' with those in power.

In this case the Ickwell sisters, Jicama and Romaneque, in their green Bentley, are racing their long-time rival, Sir Chervil Moggerhanger-Lummox, who is driving a Rolls-Royce station wagon with assistance from his valet, ‘Skirret’.

Of course, this was too much of an opportunity for the “Ascension Revolutionary Socialist Party”, and just before the start time, their heavily armoured propaganda truck pulled up alongside the others.

If you want all the thrills...

...and spills...

... there's a full report here:

That sounds like a lot of fun. I like how they vehicles and take a lot of damage so there are ebbs and flows in who's winning the race. Hope you get everything packed up and moved soon...  :D

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure how interesting the blog post was.

Thanks. The new apartment has a bit more space, so I can make a larger course. This one was a bit small, really.

The damage and collisions aspect was interesting; I expected the truck to be left behind, but it turns out having two MG's and a ram plough was very effective. I think the faster cars will be more successful on the longer course, and I'm working on another van with a "light cannon" the rules for which make it a fairly formidable weapon.

Nice addition to the island — Max34 races are always fun!

Thanks; they fit into the story fairly well. I should probably make sure I do some Pulp Alley games though, before I forget how.

With illicit races going on and pulpy purloining to be done, the Ant Hill Mob can't be far behind.

Hehe... In my slightly mad world, the role of the Ant Hill Mob is currently filled by the rather bonkers (But historically accurate) "40 Elephants Gang", who were a team of female shoplifters based in the Elephant and Castle area of London from the early 1900's onwards.

I've moved them to Ascension, where they've formed an unholy alliance with Oswald Moseley's "Auxiliary police" and been supplied with a new truck for "The Races" and been instructed to keep the lower orders in their place:
