Might as well ask a master craftsman and architectural guru while I am at it. When did gutters become a thing with houses? I know they go back at least as far as antiquity and wood and lead versions were around since Roman days but did they only become a thing in vernacular architecture when the cast iron ones presumably made them cheap enough to mass produce?

Got a little 20mm build out the way. It’s about 250mm square

Did you ever consider casting large thin sheets of tiles / slates that you could cut to size in one piece?

I did, yes and both ways have pros and cons. For the moment this way works the best for the style of build I've got but it could change in the future. It would be good for proper pantiles but there's quite a bit of work in that to get it right.
