Terminator Salvation

Just saw this and loved it.  It's the best in the series and way awesome.  Now we just need some sweet Resistance soldier figs & a Not-John Connor with assault rife mini......

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the franchise so this is on my list to see, although it looks like more of a big, dumb action movie than T1 or T2.

THis reminds me, did anybody ever try the old tabletop wargame rules for the Terminator universe that Leading Edge Games produced in the early/mid 90s? I flipped through the rulebook once and stupidly didn't buy it, but I remember rules for several sorts of Terminators and some pretty nice minis associated with the project. Of course, being Leading Edge, the system was most likely uber-complex and clunky because that's how LEG did things...

Well it can't be any worse than T3.

I may have a look at it. Christian Bale is always good value, after all.

I'm so naive that I believe mr. Bale wouldn't venture into anything remotely like T3.

you'd hope so, however...

That review worries me. I've not seen it yet, but argg... that's awful. Well whatever, renting from the video store is cheaper than going to the theater anyway...

One thing people need to realize is that few sequels of series these days are actually decent. Like the Star Trek movie, or the second AvP movie (the first too). We need to start movies fresh over again. Screw visual effects, I want a juicy, scrumptious story to sink my teeth into. Or invent some other radically new/bizarre form of entertainment.

I refues to believe Terminator 3 even existed.

I can't take the review too seriously because the poster liked the message in Terminator 3 (though we agree the Terminatrix was dumb) and he seemed to not like Carters performance in Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (one of my top 5 all time Favorites.)

I think the quality of that review reminds me of what I would expect from a 10 year old.

But still - other critics are also giving this movie a bad review. Try googling and you will see.

That reviewer has a case of hyper-expectations leading to serious disappointment.  And I agree, a 10 year olds rant.  Though I get that way about Return of the Jedi, so I can't really say much.

I dig salvation and though I went to see it with no expectations I still expected a dreary, dark movie, not some flash pan fun fest.  Awesome effects, awesome seeing Batman with an assault rifle, and predictable yet satisfying plot for the series reboot.

I`ll just read a review in our local paper. The movie was rated average.
I will see it anyway.

How good it is is pretty immaterial to me as I find going to the cinema a tedious experience at best. Changing audience habits have made it a chore which I avoid except for my absolute 'must see' films, the last of these was Lord of the Rings :)

Instead I enjoy my films at home, I have a big enough screen and surround sound and I am quite happy with that. When this latest Terminator film is £4.99 (this time next year if not before) I will get it and have a watch, if it's good I'll keep it, if not I'll pass it on. Giving it away is still less costly than going to see it at the cinema with modern dvd prices after all.

I know I'm curmudgeonly but it works for me :D

I quite liked it, and the special effects are exceptional. Small story holes, some surprise "characters". Very cool technology.
You might wanna give this one a second chance.

I watch movies mainly for the visuals, and don't care too much about plot or character development. Then again, I don't think one should expect more than summer popcorn cinema with lots of explosions, so that should be fine. But I'll probably wait for the DVD as well, shouldn't be too long until it is cheaper than the average cinema ticket.
