Hydrocal in Europe
« on: 02 June 2009, 07:13:58 PM »
Hi everyone!
I was looking for some kind of really good plaster for making moulds and stuff like that, and I read about this Hydrocal (and also Ultracal)... The question is, I've found them in US, and i should borrow them whith few money but... I'm not in Us!

What can i do, then? Do you know the name of some sites to order plasters in europe? :)

I've no idea what it is, or why it is different to normal plaster (I'm assuming you're meaning something ike platers of paris?); so a short description might help a little.

you could try a plaster i've used a lot called Keramin.
it sets extremely hard as it has a ceramic powder mixed in with plaster powder, and is really cheap too !
i'll include a link to the companys website for you for more info

the bag in the picture on their website i pick up at my local modelling store cost me less than £2
EDIT: Just realised i pasted the wrong link, here is the link to the manufacturers website

Minor skin grafts can be performed on pigs by covering any cuts and grazes with thin strips of bacon.

Presumably, being harder, it lasts longer than basic plaster of paris and gives more "castings" per mould?

Could be very useful  :)

You should go on: http://hirstarts.com/

on the message board (forum) there are a couple europeans, ask them or just go in the "where to buy plaster" thread, many places!

hope I helped.

(try art shops)

Nei negozi di belle arti hanno sicuramente qualcosa di simile...

I agree with "Unforgiven" - go to the Hirst Forums!!!! The amount of info there is amazing and there are people from all over the world who can steer you in the right direction.
