Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

That 106mm RCL is a handy bit of kit! I'd like to see it on the back of a 2A SWB landy with Australian crew  ;)

Does anyone know if the ARVN used it?

A few weeks. Probably mid September.

Quickie question for the knowledgeable.

What helmets were the Australian army wearing in Vietnam? I have pictures of troops wearing the US M1 helmet so assume that was issued however have come up with references, quotes, mentioning grabbing the helmets from both vehicle crew and infantry.

Did the Australians officially have a helmet at this time? Did they ever wear the British turtle helmet?

Just wondered if I had missed something????

US M1 helmet was the issue but very few wore it. We did not have the British battle bowlers.
Cheers,

Yep, US tin hat but rarely worn. Probably most likely to see them and US flak jackets on engineers involved in mine clearing or mine laying.

There are reports of engineer and mine clearance teams in US flak jackets with M1, but I'm yet to see a photo showing them in use. Almost all footage and imagery has ANZAC troops in greens with bush hats.

If you were to do an infantry pack in M1 and flak, it would be likely purely hypothetical and be of limited use outside of 'what-if' gamers. A couple of sculpts in a dedicated engineer pack would be feasible, but I'd still prefer a pack in greens with bush hats before any troops with helmets or vests.
