Hello from Miniature-Heroes
« on: June 30, 2009, 09:29:28 PM »
Hello, my name is Tim and I run www.miniature-heroes.co.uk

As pimping is frowned on that's all I say about that. I have actually been meaning to join for quite a while, but only really got round to sorting it out today.

I am a collector too, a pre slotta citadel fan really and like the rest of you have a lead mountain that I may scratch the surface of one day. Alas so little painting skill and so little time.

Regards

Bossco101

Welcome aboard. It's always great to find a new supplier to build up the lead mountain. In return you'll find big inspiration and great artwork here.
Have fun!

Hi Tim, hope you like it here!

Pimping may be frowned upon, so I'll just say  8)  ;) about your store.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, and if you're in the uk at the moment you'll know that has a double meaning currently, phew!

Well, that's because you import stuff from Italy  ;)

Actually, we have about 28 degrees Celsius here in DK these days, too....

But interesting, that you have the Mirliton/Ex-Grenadier stuff.

The Mannequin stuff seem to have some retro-look?
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Mannequin are a tiny company run on a part time basis. That said the owner and main sculptor, Adam Carnell is very committed and I honestly think he's really quite good. Sasha, Elle, and jeanette are his first commercial sculpts, and to be fair if I could manage anything half as good I'd be very pleased.

The goblins and orcs are Kev Adams and the rest is all Bob Olley, though Mannequin have the rights to it all. The orcs and gobbos are fantastic value at the moment.

There is also new stuff in the pipeline.... ;)

I did not mean to criticise - I just commented on the style, and I think they look retro; I have seen other companies deliberately go for a retro-style (to make minis look like the ones from Advanced Heroquest, for instance), and the style has its own charm (although not being everyone's cup of tea).

No offence perceived or taken. I was just trying to explain why they do look a bit retro.

There is a review of some of the mannequin range here http://thescreamingalpha.com/2009/06/16/review-jeannette-the-ranger-by-mannequin-miniatures/

I also happen to think its very fair and a good reflection of the miniature.

I just took a look at the pre-slotta minis. Oh, the memories. And, hey, I actually do own quite a few of them. Nice reminder to have a look around the attic again...
