All,
My wargaming butterfly mind means I'm already thinking of the next project.
One of my favorite rules is DBA, and therefore the transition to HOTT is tempting. I have not played any games yet, but several of my club mates already have armies and we have been talking about playing a small campaign. I find one tricky thing with HOTT is picking the army. With all fantasy open it's a lot of choices! So I've decided to pick a theme from my favorite fantasy book series, Terry Pratchett's Diskworld series, hence the investigations into an army of Ank-Morpork!
I've been through the books again, and the only time I can find reference to a military are: Sgt. Colon's memories and off hand comments (mostly in Men@Arms), and the two regiments described in Night Watch.
Now I've thought about the setting of the books, and in my interpretation would be it's a pre-gunpowder but late medieval army. The mention of regiments gives the impression of a professional military, so I'm not looking to include many hordes or even characters from the books. So the army list might look something like the following:
1x knight general
2x blades or spear
4x bows or shooters
2x riders
1x magician
2x war wagons
Hordes to make up the numbers.
Now my question to the collective brain here. Does anyone have experience with a similar project? Are my findings correct, I'm very likely to have missed something?! And those with experience with HOTT, does the army seem viable? Or would other choices make it more effective?
Thanks!!
LS
