Anyway, to my point.
i keep buying figures that suit the feel of the fallout setting, but i cant find any decent "Robbie the robot" style figures in the right scale.
any one have any ideas where i could get my hands on some (prefferably within europe/uk)?

I'm not familiar with that robot, do you have a pic/link?

A very cool retro robot. It's appeared in all sorts of TV shows and films.
"Google" Robbie the Robot, there's loads of stuff.

Argonor, the Robbie the Robot reference is due to the fact that despite being set in the future, Fallout has a very 1950s retro vibe to it. The Robots in it are straight from 50s Sci-Fi, and the Protrectron from the game owes more than a little of its look to Robbie:

(That's my character shooting at one, about five minutes ago.)

Robbie the Robot was originally from the movie "Forbidden Planet" and really is the archetype for retro robots.

i love the retro look of it, i was half expecting them to include a "the day the earth stood still" Reference into the fallout games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_the_Earth_Stood_Still_(1951_film)

i could do with some lost in space style robots as well to convert into robobrains

it would probably help if i said the scale im looking for is 28mm or heroic 25mm.
im not sure what that equates to in 1/xxxth  scale.

oh, and hydra miniatures do some brilliant fallout tactics style hoverbots

For all kinds of retro robots:

Pulp Figures
Rattrap Productions
Brigade Games
Killer B

And, of course, as already stated, Hydra Miniatures.

I don't think I've seen a Robbie-style one - but you may be able to make one by combining parts from different ones?

the robots from pulp miniatures, have brilliant legs and arms for it, with the body from "robot type II" from rattrap, then all i need do is find a suitable head and i'm laughing.

it may be a job for green stuff.

Thanks.

EDIT: there is an upcoming VIR 7 Robot from killer b that has the perfect head. and his body would make a fantastic brain bot.

Thinking about retro robots, I hadn't realised it before, but the robo-brain/brainbot (whatever you call it) owes much to the robot from 'Lost in Space', albeit a kind of squashed version of the design.

Except the robot from Lost in Space didn't have a brain in its clear casing. Nor that sexy lady voice that Herbert "Daring" Dashwood got all excited about.

Further my idea of basing my minis on bottlecaps, this guy is my test mini (sorry for lazy paint job, he is only representing a slaver)

the figure itself is one of the OOP GW imperial guard figures.

Mostly, him and the Pip Boy owe their existence more so to the standard 50's mascots. Though I can see where you're coming from.

And how are we supposed to spend our bottle caps if there is lead stuck to 'em? Speaking of caps, you prolly don't want to see the collection I started back in the 90's lol .

A little from column A, a little from column B lol . Usually is a nice addition to a Halloween costume though. Klink-klink and all that. If the world goes to heck, Canada and Australia will be left untouched... Unless a certain country plans to annex.
