Thanks.  1/60 is close enough for its size. I may need to hunt one down.  My OH6 Little Bird (it appeared in my Northern Gambola Aid Convoy AAR) is about 1/60, and it works for 28mm...

I’ll pop up to shedHQ tomorrow and send you the plane’s manufacturer’s details Jim

That would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1/72 ish Testors DC-3 I plan on using as Spooky but something reasonably close that could be parked on a table as an objective would be great.

French Indochina - Hosting a game today where French Paras from the 1st BEP are tasked with conducting a sweep of a Vietnamese village, unaware of an enemy concealed bunker complex overlooking the valley, which hides a strong force Viet Minh.

French Indochina Batrep - The French Foreign Legion Paratrooper Platoon begin their sweep of the Vietnamese village of Di Ling Ping, flanked by a halftrack and LMG team on both sides. An attached Stuart Light Tank followed in reserve with the Para HQ.

Most of the Viet Minh in the concealed bunker complex, began on blind markers, making it impossible for the French to spot them. In this game we decided to use the activation card from Charlie Don’t Surf @toofatlardies.bsky.social, which worked brilliantly and they are highly recommended.

As the French continued the sweep of the village, a pair of Viet Minh snipers opened up almost in unison, but both missed the target due to a sudden downpour of tropical rain. This was the first alert the French had to the Viet Minh presence.

French Paras and their armoured support returned fire and continued their advance to contact, the reserve squad became disoriented in the dense jungle and scattered. Using the activation cards is a great way of representing events such as this👌

A Viet Minh infantry squad emerged from behind the waterfall, opening up on the Paras to their front. In the centre, disaster struck as friendly fire took out the Viet Minh HQ squad. The French also narrowly missed a friendly fire incident, when the LMG gunner fell out of the back of the halftrack and discharged his weapon towards his supporting infantry.

The superior French training started to show through, now the Viet Minh had lost the element of surprise. The paras used well drilled fire and manoeuvre tactics, to advance towards the bunker complex whilst laying down a hail of fire from infantry LMGs and vehicle HMGs.

The French weight of fire was too intense for the enemy and given the Viet Minh had lost their platoon commander in the unfortunate friendly fire event earlier, their spirit broke and all remaining troops slipped back into the jungle to fight another day. Viva la France, viva la Legion Etrangere!!

Thank you mate, those frogs are hard bastards and really dominated today, despite the well prepared Viet Minh defensive position.

Hello Gareth,

do you use the Charlie Don't Surf rules or only the blind mechanics?

Great looking game!
