Bloody Miniatures are simply the best figures you can buy at the minute, lovely sculpts, great characters and a great service from our very own Captain Richard.

They really are something special, aren't they. Bloody Miniatures are definitely filling a gap in the market.

With several known instances of girls-dressed-as-boys fighting in the English Civil Wars, this pack also includes a dashing cavalier girl. Very Shakespearean.

You realise that "Shakespearean" in this context would actually have to mean boys dressed as girls-dressed-as-boys?  (So would that be "double-cross dressing"?)

That said, given the "time-lag" in cross-Pond fashion evolution, three of these could well find their way into my AWI forces.....

I do realise that, yes :)
The motif of the girl dressed as boy is a recurring theme in Shakespeare's comedies: Viola in Twelfth Night, Rosalind in As You Like It, and so on. The fact that originally these would have been young male actors playing girls pretending to be boys, must all just have added to the fun. Doesn't really alter the motif though.

Obviously I'd love you to buy them, but you do realise there's about 130 year gap between the ECW and the AWI? That'd be quite a Transatlantic time-lag in the fashion stakes  lol

I have been guilty of using FIW ladies for everything from Elizabethan ladies to somewhat dowdy old west settler ladies!... Sadly beggars can't be choosers and for many of us 'long dress, cap and apron' firmly places a figure into the 'good enough for government work' category :-P

Now, if you were to be a gent and release a complimentary range of AWI characters then this could be avoided!

lol

One thing at a time...  ;)

Right then, here's the next merry band... perhaps not quite as glamorous or dramatic as unhorsed cuirassiers and gallant ladies, but possibly a more ubiquitous set of ECW / TYW characters for your tabletop...

The Flying Picquets.

A troop of scouting, skirmishing, foraging dragoons, lurking in the woods, hedgerows, or outskirts of the town. Keeping watch perhaps, on the hunt for provisions, or generally up to no good. They certainly look like they mean business.
In their riding boots, short coats slung with bandoliers of apostle powder charges, and firelock muskets, these lads could serve equally well as artillery train guards or elite lifeguards of foot.
I hope you like them  :)

Another 2 superb sets to look forward to Richard - this really is a lovely range. I'm still hoarding mine until I know what I'm going to do with them!

Looks like a very cool range and some new things I'll need to acquire :)

Only you could come up with that name :)
But dismounted dragoons is exactly what I need in next month’s painting schedule so the timing is perfect. As are those figures.
