After seeing your painted image, I have to say this build turned out absolutely ace man. I think its my favorite of the competition- excellent work.

Matt, I agree. I think your two entries are probably two of the best in the entire contest! It's a shame one of them won't progress on. You guys would get my gold and silver medals if I were the judge...  :-*

oh right, only just twigged how this works, and have seen the 'finished', play-off, posts.

Well - it turned out above brilliant.

Mikedemana: Thanks! It is great to have such encouraging feedback.

Bloggard: Thank you too! I will post some pictures on the Frostgrave board just in case there is anyone there who might be interested who has not been following the BSC.

As my entry is not progressing to the next round I am free to post some more pictures. First up is the scene I found after spraying some varnish on the fountain and leaving it in the sun while I popped out to post a letter (as recounted earlier in this thread). It is hard to make out in the photo but there is a pool of rainwater in the fountain.

And here are a few more of the finished piece:

And with Nose detached (very Gogol!) for storage:

You have to be very happy with that. The whole piece looks great but the patina on the fountain itself is particularly excellent.

By far the most innovative entry in the contest and very well executed! I also particularly like the verdigris patina on the nose.

This is brill! Also, I just realised that there must be some very clever engineering/magic to keep the nose supported  when it’s not frozen  :)

The more I see of this, the more amazed I am by it.  What a magnificent concept, so brilliantly realised.  And the icy setting is refreshing to think about after the heat wave we just went through!

Fantastic work.  Very tempted to steal some of this for my own Frostgrave “world”.  Probably not the nose, that’s too iconic, but love the icy pond.  Verdigris effect Is splendid as well.  Just think, if you’d “made” the nose from iron the rust would have looked like the nose had caught a cold…..

This build was so much fun. You nailed the verdigris and the ice.

I would have awarded this the "Best in Show" award... just sayin'. Trips my triggers for quirky and unusual, paired with excellent technical achievement.

Getting excited & making jokes about dropping Nepalm on little Asian Children in a Viet' village doesn't make it ok just because 'it's wargaming & not real'. You wanker scum need to look again at the real photographic horror of such chemical weapons. Seriously Disgusting mind set amongst some you.
