A place to place a statue.
« on: 09 April 2021, 02:00:56 PM »
I picked up the most excellent statue from Otherworld miniatures and needed a temple to place it in.
This is the temple level.  I had to build it first becasue parts were on order and had not arrived yet so I could not work on the crypt.
Walls are foamex with Hirst Arts cast moulding and the stelae are made from Coppelstone 10mm orcs.  The background to the stelae was made by pouring sand into the cavity behind the models and stabilizing it with superglue.

Here is the full floor with the statue and braisers in place.

I have included a scale picture with some of my Frostgrave warband.

More photos on my blog if you are interested.
Hope you like.

Superb looking temple complex. Agreed with Akula, this will look amazing once painted up.

I also really like your two minis - what are they and where did you get them from?

Thanks for the comps all.
The hunchback is from Studio Miniatures.  He is their Not Marty Feldman from Young Frankenstein.  Look in his horror section.  The second is the Barbarian from Bears Head.  I can't say enough about the quality and service from them.

Absolutely brilliant - somewhat reminiscent of the Dungeons and Dragons cover - I wonder if this was an influence?

The Copplestone Stellae look brilliant - for those wanting to try something similar the plain white figures that come with model kits are pretty generic and often aren't sculpted to wargames proportions so look quite different to "figures".

I look forward to seeing what this looks like when it's painted, do you have a Frostgrave scenario in mind?

Otherworld miniatures modelled the statue after the old AD&D player handbook cover.  They also sell two thieves stealing the gems so the whole scene can be recreated.  I did not design the building with a particular scenario in mind as the whole concept was built up around the statue.  However it will work for several scenarios.

Work has been going slowly.  I had a couple of other fish to fry in the interim.  Interior of the crypt construction is done.  Just needs the voids between the interior and exterior walls topped and filled then some minor gap filling.  Once that is done I will do the exterior for the whole building in one go so it all matches.

The individual alcoves for the bodies were slotted so they could be painted separately.

The whole project is moving right along now.
