Loved the BAOR boys.   I think you got the effect of DPM camo down pretty good!

And I'm looking forward to see how this whole thing plays out...... 8)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, I hope to make more progress once the “Build something” competition is finished.

Already have plenty more figures primed and vehicles on the way as well.

What a great project - for inspiration can I suggest the old BBC series called Survivors by Terry Nation

No idea if it is available on iPlayer.

Big Finish produced audio plays (many with members of the original cast).

Ok..ok..when my thread turns into a film review, it’s time to post more figures, I get it  ;) lol

More toys this weekend, been sorting through previous projects for suitable figures to bulk out the civilian population, while I get a bunch of new figures primed....now that my BSC entry is finished I can make some more progress.

Also have some vehicles to sort out as well.

The major question I’ve been asking myself is whether to go with my existing snow table, or go for something greener...am now thinking I might go with the snow scenery...partly because it saves me a wad of cash on new terrain, and partly because I like the idea of colder weather as an extra challenge during individual games/campaign.

I’m working on some resource markers/objectives, and might include heat sources as one of the types.

  • Amusingly clumsy.
A great project and something I have a soft spot for growing up in those interesting times.

If I had more time and shelf space this is a project I would indulge in, but for now I'll follow this one and see if it gets me motivated.

Cheers all  :)

Some vehicles....first up a MK Bedford

This is the 1/50 corgi diecast with some modifications. The corgi is a long wheel base, but if you remove the screws underneath the vehicle, the rear of the vehicle slides into the cab to form the more familiar shorter version...all that’s needed then is to replace the rear bodywork with some plasticard. The extra storage underneath is an Old Crow ammo box. Empress BAOR for comparison purposes.

Comparison with the original model.

I also picked up a Bedford RL in RAF colours (ready painted from Promod) an older model but still in reserve, so entirely plausible that it could be used.

While I was playing about with the Bedford MK I also painted up a couple of Grubby Tank Saracen APCs. In real life the Army Driver Training Centre (just north of Hazelbrook on my fictionalised map) had some Saracens for training crews heading to N Ireland, so I figured these could make an appearance in my campaign.

Group shots so far
