Won't be using the Northstar plastics but his Rogue Star metals are an excellent way to start imho, and and good pricing too. Always wanted to do something with generic old-school looking rogues, bots and aliens so this is as good an opportunity as ever. Got a few Alternative Armies rogues laying around somewhere and of course will be getting myself anything else for grabs, as long as it looks cool  :D.

It's nice to see the Rogue Stars range getting some new life through Stargrave, those minis are far too nice to fade out teh way their parent game seems to have.

Alternative Armies has quite a lot of 28mm stuff that works well for Stargrave, including many of the old Ion Age figs and most of the Ganesha Games range.

Yeah, I got a couple of those "Shia Khan humies turned traitor" and they are excellent:

I feel A.A. is a bit underrated these days, they've got some great ( and affordable ) miniatures available.

Agreed.  Can't beat them for sculpt variety with the 15mm stuff either - every single mini in a pack is different usually.  Lovely batch of definitely-not-Star-Frontiers figs too, which tickles my nostalgia bone.  And some of their (relatively) recent 28mm scifi reminds me strongly of Rogue Trader era GW, which I'd contend is a good thing.

I have a box of the original 15mm figures I gamed with in the mid-'90s somewhere. There was a games shop in Consett that stocked them.

For Stargrave I am generally going for the North Star plastics (Star and Frost), together with Anvil resins, Maelstrom's Edge plastics and possibly any other plastics that match size and stylistically (looking at you Great Escape Games).

I have even started painting the Anvil figures.

I mentioned Great Escape Games Gunslingers, well, here is my first build:

This is the duster coated body with the advancing legs from the Gunslinger set combined with a head, arms and gun from the Stargrave Crew set.

Not got much painting done yet.

The GEG kit also looks like a good source for left-handed pistols, which a are a bit lacking in Stargrave at the moment.  Hard to do southpaws or pistoleros.  Hopefully the female crew/merc and scavenger kits help with that.

Yes, there is a shortage of left arms without weapons in the Stargrave sets, requiring some creativity. If you want a left handed shooter....

What with One Thing and Another, there is no Colours this year, so to make up for it, I ordered some of the new robots from Anvil Industries.

They have two ranges, the Regiments (Human) sized ones and the larger Eco-Lords sized ones.

They are multi-part, multi-choice figures in white resin. The resin loves superglue, they are nearly as easy to assemble as plastic kits - the arms are easier as they have location holes in the torsos.

Here are the components (Exo-Lords on the left, Regiments on the right).

The Exo-Lord sized ones are armed with Widowmaker rifles with box magazines, the Regiments sized ones with Phase SMGs. The Regiments ones can use the any of the Anvil weapons that use the "pistol-grip" attachment.

They have a range of different heads, but I decided on the Cyclops style for both as they look the most like a Combat droid.

Here are two assembled and a Stargrave Trooper for scale.

And to show why they larger robots are referred to as Exo-Lord sized.

Great stuff UVS. I was a bit hesitant on the Stargrave plastics but have really come around to them and now love them.

And of course Anvil Industries stuff always looks good. Nice to see them doing robots now.

Thanks, the Anvil robots are great, though I am going to have to re-watch Chappie before the next order. A wider choice of weapons for the Eco-Lords ones would be nice (a Tetrapod with twin gatlings is fine for support but...)

I have the (female) Drop Troopers to look at shortly.

Thanks to Nick and his crew.
I have started on the book which looks good.

Just started to unpack the figures.

Something Borg like would be a nice alternative. I’m thinking along the lines of the Mantic Dreadball revenants. I’m not a huge fan of zombies. Won’t stop me getting Q37 though. What you have done so far is great! I especially like the figure with the GEG gunslinger bits. Lovely!

Maybe take a look at the Strain figs from Sedition Wars?  Not Borg but definitely horrific techno-zombies, and the last I looked they were pretty cheap owing the game flopping like a 600 pound high-diver.

Thanks for the suggestion. I had a look but they are a bit too gross for my tastes. I’m a bit squeamish...
