DINOSAUR WARGAME - Development
« on: 14 June 2021, 04:20:33 PM »
Hey Gang, Arthur Here (Used to be the The_Wisecrack back in the day/ right in the image below, Charles is left)

You've been integtral at times through my writing career for both feedback and input (and inspiration) and i have recently taken on a partnership with a friend and started the company WICKED WARGAMES to work on the re-release of my succesfully funded game "Cretacea" (released 2016). The game is a survival game based in the world of dinosaurs. It's got a heavy emphasis on game-fun over rules-accuracy though we are working hard to implement more emulation and creativity in the second edition.

(An image, pending aproval, for the upcoming book)
I have been blogging the process on the company blog (http://wickedwargames.weebly.com/updates) but we thought we'd branch out and post little updates (with links to "read more" on the blog) as it seems like we're working in silence a bit and since the process is so fun we thought more people ought to share in it.

Most of the process before Charles came on board (early this year) was terrain and miniature work and since the game is designed to allow players to use any dinosaur toys or miniaures they want (for both budget and exploration of individual creativity) i was painting a modest collection of dinosaurs for the book photography.

THE BEGINNINGS OF THE COLLECTION

SOME OF OUR BRACHIOSAURS AND A PLAYTEST TABLE

At this point me and charles are working hard on the stat blocks and the rules, we are doing as much of our own art as we can (such as the art on the stat blocks themselves) and we are really enjoying the process, uploading at least one of our battle reports a week on the blog, which mix a bit of narrative fun with rule ideas, updates and thoughts as we go.

I hope you enjoy following the process as much as we are enjoying writing it. As we are working remotely (due to covid and the long distance between us) we are playtesting a lot using the tabletop simulator software but don't worry, the software if anything allows us to be more precise and more exact with measurments, line of sight and other such crucial effecting factors. I mention this to explain why you might see digital shots like this on the blog, which is how we're writing out our playtests after we do them (using in battle screen shots).

Looking forward to your comments, this forum always had the most constructive and enjoyable comments so let us know your thoughts, either here or on the blog itself. We also have a facebook group which we post in here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/175725279505968

Kind Regards
Arthur

Morning all, we uploaded a battlereport yesterday, it includes a Charcacrodontasaurus and suchomimus ( two theropod predators) vs an edmontosaurus, a triceratops and a parasaurolophus (my favorite) http://wickedwargames.weebly.com/updates/dont-go-grazing-to-try-to-please-me

We ran another test game last week and had some concerning results RE difficult ground rules. The game looked great though and we had a great time. More on the blog.

Loads of stuff happening on our dinosaur game, getting back to model painting and converting now as we approach the main photography part of the book and need to get our "line up" ready to go!
