Looks great. Is this figure going to be made available after it's cast for sale or is it only for the primary backers?
Hey guys, we 're still working out the details but some should be available to our fellow LAF'ers.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Great, as I would love to have one, but right now, almost every spare penny goes to funding my own ever expanding range of privately commissioned figures.

That is a great idea, and you could get the grapple hook in that way also

good point! maybe a "hand with weapon" sprue of revolver, sword and grapple hook for the right hand and rope, revolver and open hand for the left

Sorry to all participants and onlookers for the lack of progress over the last few days.  I ordered some scale guides for this project last week and I'm still twiddling my thumbs waiting for them.  Much longer and I'll start to look like my avatar again.

Guess what arrived this morning!  Who had 'three weeks' in the office pool?

Awesome, can't wait to see it take shape! If I've said it once I've said it twice, one of the most annoying things in this hobby is companies not telling you a product is out of stock when you order it.

Anyway, as far as hand options (grapple gun, etc...) that's up to you, if you want to toy with the idea of hand options I won't tell you no, with your generous discount on the sculpting costs I was trying to keep the bells & whistles to a minimum that's all  ;).

A month since the last post?  Whoof.  Apologies to all for delays due to slow post, overburdened goblins, and trips to London-toon.  But things are rolling now; here's the first progress pic. :)

I was pleasantly surprised to see the EotD minis are 'true' 28mm.  Not that I have a burning vendetta against chunkier 32mms, or what have you, but still.  This guy is (or will be) just a smidge taller than Sherlock - 28-28.5mm to the eyes, if he was standing upright.  Fixed the armature with a mix of greenstuff and apoxie sculpt, slightly more GS.

Some wee bits: posed, cut and steadied the arms.

I have to mention that Ironmammoth's figure scale guide is a pretty handy piece of kit for thjis step and the previous ones.

Bulked up a bit more with GS + apoxie sculpt for extra sturdiness, especially around the limbs.  Not too much - I want to leave some room for a decent GS (or near-GS) layer.

A little bit of indecision now.  Do I bulk out the back half, lay the cloak over it, and finish off the front half; or sculpt it all sans cloak and add that last?  The former, I think.  I might tend to go overboard with detail that'll just be hidden, otherwise.
Then there's sticking on the cloak itself, as one sheet of putty, the way stinking talented sculptors make look so easy.  I've tried it once myself with reasonable results - might take me a couple of tries to get it just so, this time.
