I believe the reason why BAP chose it was because it was unlikely to be produced otherwise. The idea is to produce vehicles that are unlikely to turn up in other manufacturer's ranges... I believe they are also doing an Erhardt(?) armoured car.

You've lost me... unless you think 'Black Army' relates to Anarchists in the SCW in some way? I understand it relates to several RCW factions, but black and red were (afaik) the preferred colours for Spanish Anarchists... of which there were as many varieties of Anarchists as there were Socialists. While Catalonia was the centre for 'Anarcho-Syndicalism', particularly Barcelona, both Zaragosa and Madrid had strong Anarchist movements, of what is described as 'Pure Anarchism' and there was a strong rural 'peasant-anarchism' movement in Andalucia.

The Basques were largely conservative and very religious, but the Republic was likely to grant autonomy for 'Euskadi' as opposed to the centuries of oppression and attempts to eradicate 'Basqueness' that had been the case in 'Old Spain'.   

As for Black Army Productions... I'd hazard a guess that if it does actually relate to something rather than being a cool name, there's even money on either the Hungarian army of Matthew Corvinus, or a Taiping Rebel Faction in the Civil War.

yep, I read somewhere that there were some links between spanich and russian anarchists
(I remember some anarchism HP regarding Makhnovia and Catalonian anarchism as succesful examples)

and the stories during CW are rather similar
but You are right . anarchism in spain has a longer and deeper history
and it is not surprising for anarchism that there were many fractions - it is about that after all

and yep, I understand - Black Army could hint at a lot
anyway, the name is succesful, since people remeber it and speculate about origins

(Full disclosure - I know Doc Twilight and he reeks of paprika - and not the good Spanish type)

I will say that the Euskadi is a very nice model and I can't wait to see it in resin.

There are actually a number of these kits in 1:35.  The problem is that you may be searching under the wrong name.  Try searching Trubia-Naval.

JVM models also make a 1:35 version of it's companion


I'm thinking I need a couple of those Black Army  M36's.  One to build as is, and one to convert!  I seem to have plenty of guns and model parts lying around for conversions ;-)

That's a hell of a find, Brent. I'm going to have to put it on the list;) Have seen it referenced, but this is the first clear illustration. (I have seen a few photos, come to think of it) Looks like what, a Hotchkiss MG in the hull?

I was going to mention.  If you need metal gun barrels, stowage bits, metal parts, etc for anything you are dreaming up.  Just give us a shout.  I seem to have bins and bins of parts for some reason.  Plus we do have the ability to turn plastic into brass, or cast into metal.
