Here’s a brief resume of the second game in our Fistful of Lead Fantasy campaign. The Dwarves having successfully put of of action most of the Orc raiders set about celebrating their victory long into the night at their makeshift camp a few leagues from the battlefield. Unbeknown to them the remaining Orcs seeking revenge have followed their tracks, watched and waited as the Dwarves succumb to the effects of their favourite beer.
The game is set with half the Dwarves fast asleep, the remainder struggling to stay awake on watch as the Orcs eager for revenge begin to creep up on their unsuspecting enemies…
The Orc leader a bit to eager to wreak havoc moves forward too quickly and is spotted by Sigmund the Runemaster, who not as drunk as he appears casts a rune sending forth a bolt of lightning which puts the Orc leader straight out of the game.
The remaining three Orcs sensing it maybe over quickly for them charge forward. Their Shaman responds casting a nasty spell on the Dwarves who are grouped too close together in the camp wounding three and killing Sigmund’s Arctic fox familiar.
Things go from bad to worse for the Dwarves, poor dice rolls mean three of them go out of action before they eventually bring down the remaining Orcs with skilled archery from Bob de Mortemur and James of Moir.
Sir Ronald de Corbett takes on the Shaman.
His overconfidence in his superior weapons training and armour is his undoing as he is knocked down by the Shaman.
Sigmund is also gravely wounded by a particularly unpleasant Orc wielding a nasty axe.
The rules for campaigns mean figures put out of action are not necessarily out for the duration of the campaign. A roll is made for each figure to see the severity of their wounds, some recover quickly, others miss a game or can end up food for the crows. So after some tense rolls here are the participants in the next game to be played this coming week.
The Dwarves are missing Sigmund their leader/Runemaster.
The Orcs are also missing their Shaman magic user but have the dreaded Troll back for the next game.
It’s going to be a tough one for the Dwarves….
