It's always a pleasure to see well painted Mutant Chronicles miniatures with excellent scenery too.  :-*

Re: Oldskool Warzone Dark Legion (Jan. 14: Razide)

Almost a year later and the Kickstarter of Warzone Eternal is about to be shipped...so my Necrovat juices started flowing again and I just wanted to paint more Warzone. This time I wanted to do a classic Razide paint scheme, based on an art piece by Paul Bonner. I didn't have a spare Razide, so I decided to use a Nasca Razide instead. With Eternal the Razides and Nascas more of the same, so that made it an easy choice.
So I wanted a classic colour scheme for the Razide but doubted a bit if I wanted a pinkish finish or a reddish finish. Both colours are used in the art of Mutant Chronicles and I love both. So I went with red! He was fun to paint, I love doing reds. And to make sure the skin was more vibrant I applied several glazes of inks and fluorescents to get it more intense.
Another Razide done, that's my first. And with the delivery of Eternal I will have a fourth one too. But that one must get a Nazgaroth, the classic.

Awesome work (as usual). Love the colour transitions on the arms.

Were the cables in the skintone a consious decision, or was it a happy little accident?
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Cheers man! Yeah, normally I would have painted the cables in a contrasting colour. But interestingly, they are red in Bonner's art (and in the art by others too)! So I kept them in skintones :)

My Warzone Eternal kickstarter will be delivered soon...so of course I am very hyped! It contains a Brotherhood starter, some Dark Legion add-ons and a Mishima force. I am really itching to paint Mishima, so I decided to pick an oldie from the 90s and splash some paint on him. I took an old Shadow Walker and went with the colours from the artwork of an old Mishima character (Toshiro). But when I got to the face I didn't want to paint it as flesh, felt a bit weird for a mystical ninja. But after some googling I found cool face paint used on Kabuki actors, called "Kumadori". That seemed perfect for this assassin to make him more sinister and almost inhuman.
All in all a lot of fun to paint and I already have the next oldschool Mishima model lined up, a Deathbringer!

Great work again, and the kabuki face paint is inspired; it fits the mini perfectly!  8)

Cool idea with the mask. I think the lore mention something about inhuman white skin.
Kinda shame that WZE didn't based their Shadow Walkers on this sculpt.

Cheers lads! And I think Res Nova actually did an awesome job of recreating the Shadow Walkers as seen on page 16 and 10 of the Mutant Chronicles Mishima source book. RN's design fits that art a lot better than the one I painted.

And another one done, the Mishima Deathbringer. Such an epic and badass sculpt, and in metal a real chunky model. The sculpt always fascinated me, as there wasn't any art for him and the sculpt is so different from the other Mishima models. But it fits a master Shinobi or Ninja very well. Painting him was a lot of fun, nice details and it all flowed together easily with the palette I chose. For the base I printed one in FDM by remixing some stls I had.
