Warning about converting figures outside
« on: September 17, 2021, 03:54:24 PM »
The weather was warm and I decided to do the converting of some Oathmark Dwarves into Roman Auxiliaries for my Cohort I Nanum.  Everything was set up when ...

An evil gull winged dive bombing bird swooped in and ... SPLAT!  a bird bomb struck an unsuspecting dwarf:

'He could have lived a risk-free, moneyed life, but he preferred to whittle away his fortune on warfare.'
-- Xenophon, The Anabasis

I've seen it a thousand times, and I rail against people building minis outside for this reason.  In fact I've never seen one mini assembled outside that wasn't struck by feces.  But people just don't want to listen...

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it. I wonder if anyone has had figures stolen by crows or ravens. Don't they have a reputation for stealing little trinkets?

In the queue to get into a Wargames show, & the guy behind me
drew my attention to the fact a bird had shat all over my haversack.
'That's lucky' he cheerfully told me.
'How so?' I asked.
'Could have been my bag' he said.
 :( :( :(

At least it's just one model - that's a template weapon...

Here in Malta, when that happens it is supposed to bring luck. I can attest that is not true.

Even indoors have an environmental challenge.

One of my cats loves to grab models by the Pike, and then run off with them!

In the West Midlands it is known as "shittery luck". Tells you all you need to know about the Industrial Revolutions effect on people....

My Dam' Yankee fleet needed extensive repair work after a 4-month-old Meezie kitten got at it.
