My Blackstone Fortress models
« on: October 09, 2021, 05:28:15 AM »
I know the game has been out for quite a while and my intention was to have everything painted up for Christmas of last year. However... I am easily sidetracked... o_o

Some family group photos; characters:

And the baddies:

The first models I actually painted were the Traitor Guardsmen; just love the figures- so easy to paint.

The first characters I painted were the navigator and the zealot.

Even though they don't make an appearance until the end, I painted the Big Baddie and his left hand men early on.

I could not get into painting black power armour though :(.

I continued to mix it up between characters and baddies.

A couple of spidle drones:

The ratling snipers:

I didn't expect to like them as much as I did.

Some beastmen:

As part of the Analogue Painting Challenge last winter I did the Kroot hunter, the space pope and some arco flagellants.

These last were very time consuming to paint; lots of cables and wires.

The rogue psychers:

Followed by the rogue trader:

...some ur-ghuls:

Finally finished the last two characters this week:

I really enjoyed painting UR-025; tried not to overdue the wear and tear and grime.

Now onto the expansions.

Great work on these! They're such good figures, and you've brought out the best in them.

Very nice work on all of them.

I also like the terrain collection you have.

Excellent. On the single quality as well as the stamina of getting them all done! Also: Excellent photography. Good stuff. Have you played the game yet or didn't you wanna touch it before everything's painted?

Lovely paint jobs on some very nice and flavorful sculpts.

Still, I rather miss the days when this would have been a gallery of giant spikey space stations.  Wish they'd put Battlefleet Gothic back into production already - or better yet, sell the IP to someone else who'd treat it right.

GW still sells metal (yes, metal) Ratling snipers if you're looking to increase the squad count for the little guys - https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Imperial-Guard-Ratlings

I keep hoping they'll release the Kroot scout as a separate figure, but alas, nope  :'(

You'll probably have to order direct from GW.  My FLGS spent two months trying to get those for a customer with no luck at all.  Something like 30% of their online catalog is direct-sales-only and cuts your local store out of the loop.

Isn't it part of a larger sprue with other "player character" figs on it?

Thank you everyone. Say what you will about GW but their pastic models are a delight to paint.

That's true it is and she is huge compared to the regular GW Eldar rangers.

Exactly. I wanted to get every thing done in the basic game before we played so I haven't even cracked the rules. As the guys I want to play this with are spread across a couple of thousand KM's of western Canada, we only get together a few times a year, so it may be a while yet. :(
