15mm WWII Berlin Building - Update 13/6/10
« on: September 25, 2009, 05:49:12 PM »
Hy everyone! in the last week i worked a lot for my physics exams, but i found some time for starting a new project: a modular 15mm wwII house.
Probably here nobody's intrested in 15mm games, but just take a look and leave your comments!:)

the building is made for moulding, and I have already done the first parts of the modular whole house. I used mostly ceramics powder for this beta moudls, because the resin (I use Syntafoam) is really expensive...
here's the first shots:

I made just one ground floor with door and an upper floor... I am planning to make anoter grounf floor with no door and other 3 upper floor (two 3windowed and two 5 windowed...) so the two different floors will be different, with not copypaste effect!
Then i also have to prepare the floors and the roof, and then... i'm done :P

this is...... ehm... my "lab"  ::) ::) ::)

hope you enjoy this! I will post updates as soon as possible!
Cheers,
Jack

berlin (and milan) houses are pretty tall, around 3.5 - 4 meters per floor... so I made a 3,5 cm floors, that are realistic for 15mm and also suitable for 20mm, maybe a bit weird...  lol

I will. I am really young and that's is almost my first project... but I am learning how to cast pretty good, and I am planning to finish this product for november... since then, i can think about selling....
why? are you interested?  :D

cheers,
Jack

basically, yes

once You tell me how You are going to close the corners, the size of the doors and windows and if the product is going to survive transport, I might be thinking of it

btw, Milan is a lovely City
been there twice

you'll see the finished product!

btw, I can cast in resin or ceramics (or other stuff that i haven't tried yet): resin is extremely hard and strong, and I can send you from a cannon with no scratches, but it is a bit expensive and you cannot mod it at all... ceramics is fantastic for modding (i've made the master mostly in ceramic), but I'm not shure about shipping..... i think i will have to test it! XD

really, i'm going to make a lot of improvements soon, so keep watching the post... :P

ghghgh, tnx... I've a lot to learn more, i hope..... ^^"

I'm not really shure about measures, but I can say something about what will be:

the floors are 3,5 cm tall (the first one is 4,5), the doors are 1 cm large, and the windows about 0.6 cm. the standard floor should be around 10x15 cm (something less), but if you combine together different modules you can have a bigger building.

just because I have no experience, I have to admit that I have to figure out how to fit all the parts together, I've just an overall Idea... anyway, they will fit! :P

for the balcony..... I will do that after the first finished product... I am really curious to see it completed... :P

cheers,
Jack

hmmm
I guess we have a misunderstanding
if the ground level is 4,5 cm, the door can't be 1
I think You gave me the width
I wanted to know the height  (altezza) of both
to be able to judge if they fit with miniatures

You might as well take a picture of the ground level plate with a 28, 20, and 15 mm figure

Looks good so far, but waiting to see the finished building next to some figures for scale comparison.

ups, former user... i thought you asked that for the base size of minis.... the height of the door is around 18mm, a bit short for a 20mm miniature... the overall size is pretty accetable, but the doors are a bit shorter... the windows, from the ground, are from 6 to 20 mm (around 14mm high).

for the photo, i'm sorry but my camera is out of charge, and I have to wait till tomorrow to go to my parent's room for another battery... tomorrow I will post photos!!

18 mm is OK for 20 mm figures for old houses

unfortunately not for 28 mm  :-[ :(

It is if the population consists of midgets ;).

Sorry for the slight derail, but is that tooth paste I see in that last picture? And a computer mouse with... A gel-pad?

don't look too  close
be warned - you might discover things you never wanted to know

if he sells his casts, I am sure we all could help to provide for a proper table, and a Reinemachefrau once a week  ;)

Ciao, Jack!

Great work! Looks quite impressive, and I like the idea of modular buildings.
Anyway, as it happens that I'm from Milan as well, in the ground floor I think you have to put the cellar windows (le finestrelle delle cantine) on all the sides.

And we have to discuss about that ceramic...

Bravo! :)

I think he only started
and since he noticed (or better - planned) that the door piece is higher than the others, I guess there will be a 1cm piece with finestrelle for the ground foor window pieces as well as corner pieces with stonework
