Thomas the Terrible and his Vikings
« on: December 26, 2021, 08:46:43 PM »
I decided that my son Thomas (7) was ready to start work on his first army. I suggested Vikings as I had been gifted a few from a friend, and didn't fancy doing a Viking army myself. They will match up perfectly against my Anglo-Saxon's. When he agreed to the idea I then gave him a wide selection of Viking leaders from the internet, any I could find. He selected one from Brother Vini Miniatures and I ordered it for him. We finally sat down to paint it over Christmas brake and all I did was provide advice on techniques to paint different sections. I let him choose colors though sometimes I'd just give him a limited selection of 3-4 to choose from. He did all the painting himself to include applying the wash and the basing. The model came out amazingly for his 4th mini ever painted. I couldn't be more proud. As for rules I plan to start with one of the Fistfuls of Lead variants since it only requires 4-8 models. I think that wont make him feel overwhelmed with painting. Then we will build up from there for Raven Feast and then on to SAGA. The end goal would be to have enough painted for Hail Creaser or Warhammer Ancients type games a few years down the line. I'll try to update his progress on here or you can keep an eye on my blog: https://wyndehurstproductions.blogspot.com/2021/12/thomass-viking-warlord.html

Brilliant and outstanding paintwork.  That is an achievement to be proud of.

Saw this on Facebook too - gotta say that you got them in young , and that's great. Worlds better painter than I was and I started at a later age. Obviously has a good mentor. :)
