1/72 scale compatability?

Is 1/72 scale compatable with 28MM?,
I have found some 1/72 models that say "28mm" on the box and I was wondering if I should buy them...

Run for cover .... it's the scale vs size debate. 

1/72mm is considered to be "true" 25mm but as beauty is in the eye of the beholder YMMV.

The best thing to do would be to compare the 1/72mm figures to your favourite minis and make your own mind up.

I think 28mm is normally considered to be more of a 1:56 to 1:64 scale. I suppose there may be some 1:72 scale things that might still look okay with 28mm minis - guess it just depends on what it is.

If we accept 28mm as being 1/56 scale, at least as far as vehicles are concerned, that makes it nearly 30% larger than 1/72, which is a hefty difference, no matter what parameters are being considered.  Personally, I wouldn't even think of using 1/72 scale models with my 28's.  They're just too small, particularly since most minis are bulkier than they would be in real life.

20mm figures are normally advertised as compatible with 1/72 or 1/76 scale kits and vehicles depending on how chunky they have been made.

open the box
compare

For me, if the figure scales up with matchbox cars it's 1:72 scale.

Matchbox cars range from 1/72ish to 1/55ish, I suppose. They are made to fit the blister package, therefore no good indicator for any scale. Hot Wheels are apparently always of 1/64 scale, while Siku are mostly of 1/56 scale. Both of the latter go well with 28mm, but will look a bit odd when mixed. This is only my opinion.
I conclude that 1/72 vehicles are not matching 28mm figures.

I widened the body by one centimetre and made a new cab that allows a 28mm to look out of the windows at eye level.

This is going to be a narrow gauge engine that is less than 2,50m wide and the cab interior 2m high at the highest point of the rounded roof...

the combination of saddle tank AND tender is interesting

I wonder how the crew manages to cramp into the cabin, fire the boiler and not having their eggs boiled 
or is it run on oil?
