Building an apothecary shop
« on: 28 January 2022, 02:28:45 PM »
I am starting to build an apothecary shop for fantasy settings.  This build is from the inside out as I have a mental image of what the interior should look like.  It is all mount board covered in stencil paper.  The spice drying rack uses lots of coffee stirrers and the plant bundles were made from fine wire and sawdust flock.  Lots of 3d printed details as I was using the last of a spool up.  The rest of the bits are from a variety of manufactures.  All finished off with my craptastic painting skills.
First is the dresser.

Then two shelves

A worktop.

Last is the spice drying rack.

There are few more photos on my blog if you are interested.

A bottle of scotch and two aspirin a day will greatly reduce your awareness of heart disease.

Looks great! I totally respect the individual labels on the drug pots. I also like the palette you are using.
Got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Thanks for the comps all.

The individual labels is just mechanical pencil.  Used the same on the open book.  The palette is my usual craptastic subdued.   :D

Some more bits and pieces.  I think I can start on the actual building construction.

Hope you like.

Paint up 20 more of those brooms and a wizard to animate them all.

I always leave mice to my cat.   :D
Just a couple of snaps to show what the interior wall texturing will look like.

Foamex textured with a scribe for the cracks and crumpled up aluminum foil for the surface.

Started work in earnest on the building.  Foamex construction with basswood and coffee stirrer details.  Still have some more wood work, to build the roof and fill gaps.

Hope you like.

I am enjoying this project. The framing details are nice but for some reason the flooring does it for me in this building.

This is looking great! Reminds me of the old Dragontooth Magic Shop from their City of Magic series. Might be worth a look for some extra ideas.
