Roman Republican - another side-project
« on: 10 February 2022, 09:13:44 PM »
hi
Start of a modest project, inspired wholly by David Imrie's magnificent Roman Republicans (viewable on his Facebook page).
Plan for forces to play Republicans v Germanic tribes (with the Osprey Wars of the Republic and/or Impetus rules).
These are Warlord plastics, some with Victrix shields- pretty rapid painting (for me), relying on the splendid LBMS shield transfers to catch the eye.
4 legionary units done and 2 more in progress.
cheers
Simon

They caught my eye!

Sounds painful! Get to a hospital fast.

Painterman, very nice. Good paint job and I think the varieties of LBMS shield decals are some of the best they do. This has inspired me to start unpacking, priming and basing the Marian/Caesarian Roman army I bought last year. Circa 100 Foundry Legionaries plus c50 A&A Spanish infantry/cavalry allies.

Those look pretty sharp, and sadly remind me of yet another unfinished project I've got to get back to someday . . .

Thank you for the kind words
Some slightly improved photos.
I've also done 2 additional legionary units - will post these here separately as forum saying the images are too big.
Simon.

Here are the 2 new legionaries.
Same Warlord plastics, but I've removed the horsetails and applied different shield designs for variety.
Two more planned, but these have been a struggle to complete, so mixing it up with Numidian horsemen next.
Cheers
Simon.

Hello Von Akers
Its Vallejo Iraqi Sand  - with an extremely light-touch dry brush across the shields, after the decals are added and after the matt varnish has fully dried.
Cheers
