Heads up that if Sekunda is to be believed, later Galatians were rather more civilised and better armoured than the naked frothers that invaded Greece.

Chances are the naked "frothers" were not as common as regular old Celtic warriors. Some armor is attested early on. One commentary says the armored galatians formed a shield wall. My guess is the picture of the naked Gaul was most common because the Greeks just liked statues and chances to paint naked men. Similar to vase art where the uncommon practice of hoplites fighting naked is commonplace rather than the norm at the Olympic Games.
