Those of you that read the game AARs on the blog will know that I've been using an Airfix model of a Ju87 when a game has a pregame Stuka Bombardment. The model is not necessary as that part of the game is abstracted but I like the way it helps to tell the story of the AAR.



With the release of the new Far East Handbook for Chain of Command there are now very similar mechanics for a Zero Attack for the Japanese and a Hurribomber Attack for the British. So I needed very little incentive to make up models for these as well. The Zero is one of the very nice new tool Airfix kits:





The Hurribomber is a simple quick build from Hobby Boss:





While I was on a roll with making aircraft I also made up a couple of recently released Airfix 'vintage classics'. Well, they are certainly vintage, yet for me they retain the charm of old and so many memories of my childhood. With a bit of love they actually come out okay.

I have the Brewster Buffalo in mind for scatter terrain for places like Malaya:





The Far East Handbook will be followed by one for the Pacific and partly with that in mind I thought a CAC Boomerang could work well for the Australians:

Great work on those aircraft.  I have a few 1/144 kits that I intend to do the same but for Battlegroup.  If mine look half as good as yours I'll be very happy.

It's an RAF Hurricane based out of India. Markings are SEAC roundels. The traditional red, white and blue roundels were dropped because the red centre roundel could be confused with the Japanese markings.

A couple of support options for my Volkssturm and Fallschirmjager. Pak40s are from Zvezda (I picked up a bunch of them very cheaply at a bring & buy). The crews are all figures from the old Wartime Miniatures range (now sold as Simon's Soldiers).
