Impressive as always! How does the Vespid kit go together? Well fitted? Haven't heard of them before.

Sorry for the tardiness in replying, not sure how I missed your question. The Vespid kits are state of the art injection moulding, so very crisp and excellent fit. I?ve made three now and can?t recall requiring filler for any of them. I?d highly recommend them, although they are true models and not quick build gamers kits, so more work than some people might want. Then again the end result is that much more superior.

That textured paper is super effective.

Would be good if the European models came with brick effect paper!

Well, funny you should say that! This is the Sarissa factory, clad in brick embossed wallpaper that I bought in A4 sheets from an eBay seller.

Here?s a work in progress shot. It does involve a bit of work around windows, but like the textured paper for the far east huts, it makes a lot of difference.

There is a detailed, step-by-step post on the build on my blog, here: http://thetacticalpainter.blogspot.com/2023/06/building-sarissa-20mm-large-factory.html

A couple of 3D prints, the first time I've dipped my toe into the water with 3D. Not doing it myself, mind you, I'll leave that to others with the time and inclination.

First up a Lanchester Armoured Car for the early part of the war in the Far East. This is from Dark Castle Terrain here in  Australia but I believe they hold a licence to print these from wargame3D based in Ukraine. I was very happy with this, a lovely crisp print with lots of detail.

It will replace a resin model I have which doesn't seem to resemble the Lanchester and is a rather crude casting. Scale is way out too, the Lanchester is a substantial size (I've seen the only surviving one at the Tank Museum at Bovington). I can't recall who produces the first one I owned and maybe that's not a bad thing.

The second is one of the armoured cars locally made in Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Force just prior to the start of the war. Five were made in all and none survived the Japanese invasion, all taking an active part in the fighting. This is a 3D print of one from Sabotag3D and it's based on one of the vehicles with twin MG turrets.

Not as big, or as elegant, as the Lanchester, but functional nonetheless.

Great work on those armoured cars but especially the Lanchester.

All nice, but as one of my uncles was taken POW during the fall of Hong Kong, I do have a
soft spot for the latest model.

Soft spot for me too. I was born in HK and grew up there. For a while we lived just off Tai Po Road just below the old Gindrinkers Line. As boys we were all fascinated by the war and knew what had happened nearby. Here’s a picture of some of us at one of the reservoirs around which the line was formed. We once found the fins of a mortar in the mud when the water levels were low. Many games of ‘war’ enacted over those hillsides!

There is a book, 'A Guest of Hirohito'  In the back are some addenda.
One of those is the statement by my uncle, then an acting corporal, about
what the Japanese soldiers did to the patients & staff at the hospital. Not nice.

Not a lot been happening for the Second World War while I've been distracted by a Germanic tribes project for Infamy, Infamy! and a Saxon warband for Dux Britanniarum/Lion Rampant. However, that doesn't mean nothing's been happening.

We've started playing The Scottish Corridor campaign for Chain of Command (I've posted a separate thread about that in the forum). For one game I selected two Churchills for the British as support but surprised myself to discover I had several Churchills, but these included an AVRE, a bridgelayer, a 90mm CS and a Crocodile, but not two regular version (well, when I say 'regular' I mean something that would work to approximate a MkIV to MkVII).

That's not totally true, as I had an old Airfix Churchill which I'd modified many years ago, but at 1/76 it is noticeably smaller than my other Churchills which are rather chunky 1/72 models from Plastic Soldier Company.

As it happens, I did have two of the PSC versions, I wasn't totally losing my mind, but the second was unpainted. That's now rectified. Technically, for this campaign, it should be a MkVII, but I really don't want to start collecting models for each and every variant (as much of a completist that I am).

Nice.
A friend who dabbled with wargaming (about 40 years ago) fielded a force of Churchill Tanks (all Airfix) as his father
had served in them during WW2. I never liked either the Airfix kit, or its performance under the rules we used at the time,
WRG WW2 . But he was happy.
