Cheers lads,

two years ago I started to buy into Stat Wars Legion. Mind you, I am not interested in new rules these days, but I liked the models, was watching the Clones Wars and owned a couple of easy rulesets that IMHO are ideally suited for gaming Star Wars: SoBH (especially with the Pirate addition Flashing Blades), LotR Strategy Game and Flying Lead.

Well it took only two years to finish the first models, but I kinda like them. A nice change from heroic GW and slightly squashed historicals, not to mention my tiny collection of 10s and 15s, the minis are very realistically done.

I’m trying Hobgoblin‘s method of preshading, then working with very diluted paints (contrast paints save me a lot of time these days). Still cannot decide into which period I want to go, but with my liking for small skirmishes, I can easily go multiple ways:
- Clone Wars vanilla
- Post Clone Wars Pre A New Hope
- Rebels vs Empire like in the good old movies of my childhood
- Post Return of the Jedi, but before those abominable new trilogy  (for me the Zahn novels are what happened after RotJ, so I meed Kyle Kartarn & co.)

Thankfully the 3d printing scene offers good alternatives to the often not very well done main characters in Legion and plenty of 2nd, 3rd and 4th rate models.

My first models. Stormtroopers.

These were actually quite hard to paint. The white required several layers to get it smooth. Anyway Iike the FFG set of model. Probably need at least double the number to make them a threat.

I intend to go the way of the SW Legends novels / old TT system and make Stormtroopers rather above average. Got a load of mudtroopers which will be the „normal“ empire grunts, stormies will be the better ones and death troopers the elite.

Great painting! I agree with you, T. Zahn novels are better for events post-initial trilogy (hum, is my sentence correct?)! It may offer more variety for skirmish games, but Rebels vs Empire is unavoidable...

I’m tempted to try T. Zahn‘s Thrawn novels. From all the SW writers he is one with at least decent skills. Nothing grrat, but not obviously bland and poorly timed and weitten.
Thrawn is definitely on my to buy list, when I visit my favorite etsy shop again

And yeah, rebels vs empire is unavailable, but imo should be bery different from what the SW box depicts: no Vader, no Luke most of the time, but rather like Rogue One or the Rebels show.

Rogue One was a good movie, showing some more ordinary Rebels. It gives more ideas for skirmish games. And finally a tropical planet, more pleasant than Tatooine!

Here is the first rebel, from one of the many Imperial Assault sets. I frankly forgot which.
A fast and dirty job. Just contrast paints and diluted paints over a preshaded basecoat.
