Re: The Jund
Its important to note that the Bedouin should be quite distinct from the Berbers. Notably the Bedouin used baldrics for swords or daggers, in contrast to the rest of the muslim world, which favoured a belt around the waist, or silk sash. The Bedouin were also never archers, they didnt believe in using arrows to kill men. Burchard of Mount Sion (c. 1270); "they do not use arrows, saying that it is base beyond measure to steal away a man's life with an arrow." They were almost exclusively mounted lancers, so the use of infantry bedouin spearmen in the Jund is very unlikely.
Your berbers look decent but you should try your hand at some more colourful robes for the infantry, their dress was quite colourful, with bright reds and blues as well as white, striped blue and red robes too were very fashionable at this time.

Na that's bollocks mate, I have seen Kingdom of Heaven, so if it's good enough for Ridley Scott, it's good enough for me 😏

That's a top tip Lord Raglan, I often use Hollywood films as my primary resource for painting guides, in fact I have a historically accurate unit based on the above still from the 1935 film The Crusades.

I found I used a lot of black and white paint though  ;)

I particularly like movies directed by Mel Gibson, as you can always rely on Mel to have done his research👌

For someone born English he doesn't half stick in a lot of anti-English feelings in his films.
I wondered where it was in 'We were Soldiers' then I found out that the really tough
sergeant was based on a Brit. who emigrated to the US, volunteered for Viet-Nam &
saved a lot of lives at the Twin Towers on 9/11. He was the only one to die from his
floor, having gotten everyone out safely he went back in to help others.

Its a horribly historically innacurate film but the attire all does look very good. Most of Saladin's army were mamelukes and arab cavalry, ghazis, and city levies, the film isnt innacurate in its portrayal of how much of this army looked, although it maybe overestimates how well many of them were armoured. I dont think it shows any bedouin, but it didnt really need to imho. The kingdom of jerusalem's lovely matching surcoats for the entire realm (or templar ones for reynald's party somehow) are ahistorical but they do look great, i've never quite got that shade of blue down on a mini though, its a very bizzare colour.

The Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem. The monastic hospitaller order was created following the First Crusade by Blessed Gerard de Martigues whose role as founder was confirmed by the papal bull Pie postulatio voluntatis issued by Pope Paschal II in 1113.

Kingdom of Heaven - The Knights Hospitaller were established following the First Crusade to protect and treat Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land. They were recognizable by their black or red surcoat with a white cross. An elite and powerful fighting order of well trained knights.

Me too Trev. It's funny, I've waited years for the Perry's to update their Hospitaller's and add caparison's but it didn't happen. Then when I had the chance to invest in the FS Kickstarter, I procrastinated and it all cam to nought!  o_o
