Yeah they were all yellow
« on: 31 August 2022, 08:22:49 AM »
After building up a Swedish army for the 1620s/30s for several years I’ve finally got around to perhaps Gustav Adolph’s most famous unit; the Yellow Regiment. Initially reticent about painting yellow, I’m quite happy with how this first block have turned out.

28mm TAG figures. More pictures and details on my blog page here:

Very nice indeed. I'm toying with having my Swedes painted as the Yellow Regiment, although mine are in Hungarian jackets.

They came out solid.  It feels like a uniform and not a cartoon feel.

Thanks all for your comments, they are very much appreciated 👍.

@Paul - I think that Hungarian coats are probably the most accurate choice. I was happy to go with the cassocks as they look ‘fancy’ and it’s a nice opportunity to use these TAG figures.

It's such a pity about the TAG Swedes. I can understand you wanting to use them because they're really lovely sculpts and a bit different. It's just, I suspect, that they're not very accurate historically. Sadly, the perfect range of Swedes for Breitenfeld and Lutzen doesn't exist in 28mm imho, although I know that some on this forum are fans of the 1st Corps range.
