The Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard Platoon have been hard at it. Captain Mainwaring having assured his lads, that once completed and fortified, the Novelty Rock Emporium would be equal to anything in the Siegfried Line! Lance Corporal Jones' Section were busy camouflaging the Emporium's roof when a Parachutist alarm was sounded. Downing brushes the Section sallied fourth, bayonets fixed to their P14s.
Lance Corporal Jones draws first blood, capturing a very dodgy looking Nun in gleaming Jackboots!

"By Jove Wilson, if we can get this thing up and running, it'll certainly give the enemy something to think about!"

"Do you really think that's wise, Sir?"

As the academic Dalek said " Extrapolate, Extrapolate!"

There's a Gywneth Paltrow Dalek too. It goes 'Exfoliate, exfoliate!'.

19 Squadron was the first squadron in the RAF to operate the Supermarine Spitfire on 4 August 1938. Young Frank was operational months before that, courtesy of his Uncle Arthur's wood working skills.

To be fair, this could have been any one of us in the mid sixties!

Very interesting thread with lots of great work to look at.  I’m painting young Frank myself at the moment.  Nice sculpt isn’t it….

Yep, very crisp. Like I said in the sixties that was our little gang, with our Airfix Spitfires, after skool!

The stalwarts of Walmington-on-Sea's Home Guard, in action!

"What do you think Joe, will it fool Adolf?"

"I'm over here you silly old duffer, that's a strawman yer talking to!"

"Anyhow Jonesy, looks good, just like a real tank!"

"Don't panic! It's not a tank, it's a cannon!"

Some time later, behind the Novelty Rock Emporium. Private Joseph Walker has a very covert rendezvous, this time with Captain Square of the nearby Eastgate Platoon.

Money and a brown paper package swiftly change hands. Walker has provided both his own, and Captain Square's Platoon, with a unit pennant... for a small earner! These will be used in the upcoming training exercise, the winner being the first unit's pennant flying from the Church flagpole.
A contented Private Walker sparks up a celebratory Woodbine...

Spitfire Boy looks very cool. I'm pretty sure I have one of those figures, hiding in 'the pile of shame'.
