Planet of the Apes
« on: 17 October 2009, 01:08:21 AM »
I came across a UK web-site earlier this week listing a range of "Apes with Guns" w/o pictures but forgot to bookmark the page - doh!  :'(

I don't think they were 40mm figures and having failed to retrace my steps - my Google-Fu has failed me. :-[

Any ideas?

Eureka has some planet of the apes type primates in boiler suits...

In fact I think there is at least one thread here in this forum with painted examples.  I'll see if I can find it
again...

Also I think Monolith did some in 40mm.

yep... Monolith have the 40mm range... Eureka's 28mm proper notPOTA range was pulled years ago, so they went with the boiler suited apes instead...

From what I recall, GZG used to sell a number of Apes´n´Guns years ago, but those may have been licensed from Eureka.

Apart from that, the only ones I know of are the Monolith 40mm ones.

Ahh, one of the few movies where the main character actually dies.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

Which one are we talking about then? The one I saw had the protagonist get shot in the head.

You're probably thinking of the end of the second Ape movie, Escape From the Planet of the Apes.   Charlton Heston is shot by the gorillas, and as he dies, he presses the detonator on a doomsday bomb and takes the entire Earth with him.  Great ending.

the second film is BENEATH the Planet of the Apes, but is pretty much as you said it... don't think he get's shot in the head though... ESCAPE FROM the Planet of the Apes is Cornelius, Zira and Milo coming to modern day Earth...

only person that I can think gets shot in the head is Taylor's fellow astronaut in the first film during the big hunt

Yeah, I knew that.  >:(

I meant to type "Beneath," but I must have spaced out.  It was the middle of the night when I typed that, so I'm blaming it all on insomnia.

Well don't trust me mind, can't remember too much all that often, and I did watch it a trifle long time ago...
