Re: Nozza_uk has Gossams and other aliens

Gossams were a small, saurian species from the planet Castell, with colonies on Felucia and Saleucami. They averaged around 1.25 meters in height, had wrinkled, pebbly green or blue skin, elongated necks, wide yellow eyes, and tapered heads. Their society valued physical appearance, with females styling their hair accordingly. They were frail bipeds with three-fingered hands and three-toed feet, living up to about 75 years.

Known for their cunning and intelligence, Gossams often worked in trade and commerce, most notably serving the Commerce Guild, led by Shu Mai during the Separatist Crisis and Clone Wars. Their scheming nature meant they could be found across the galaxy, operating as merchants, smugglers, or even pirates.

Discovered a Jawa that managed to dodge the paintbrush last year.

Meanwhile, an unsuspecting Ewok found its way onto my painting pile last week (resized to 28mm and printed by Madhouse3DPrinting). A stark reminder that I still have 25 more of these little troublemakers waiting for their turn!

A weary Chagrian, beaten by misfortune, crouches beside the wreckage of a failed R2 unit, seeking warmth from the fire flickering within its broken frame. Black Remnant design, skillfully printed by PhalanxPrintingUK.

A colleague’s son recently got a 3D printer and asked if I had any files they could use. Based on their description, I suspected it was an FDM printer. I handed them this Star Trek figure as a test subject, and they brought back the results. While some facial details were lost in the printing process, the figure is still functional and perfectly usable.

Generic sci-fi civilians are always great for gaming. Here are some painted characters from the film Alien: Romulus, designed by Papsikels and printed by Starlettminiatures via Etsy.

Here are three 28mm versions of Andy from Alien: Romulus. Andy is a malfunctioning synthetic, reprogrammed by Rain's late father. In the film, he wears a greyish jumpsuit, but I’ve added some variation to make each figure unique. The middle pose is inspired by the scene where Andy reboots.

28mm versions of Tyler and Bjorn

28mm versions of Kay, Rain and Navarro from Alien: Romulus.

Turning the Andy rebooting figure it something a bit more practical for gaming purposes.

Set myself the goal of finishing painting the last of my Ewoks (24 of the little warriors) over the past week. That brings my total to 38, split between 20 archers and 18 melee fighters. All resized to 28mm and printed by Madhouse3DPrinting.

The 24 I painted this week.

The 38 in total.

There they are...ready to swarm over some hapless Stormtrooper force!  :D

Looking great, Simon!

You can never have enough ewoks or jawas.  Very nice work.

Those figures look great - but all of the ne'er-do-wells appear to be looking down at the ground just in front of their bases. Odd posing.

Here you go.

Snitcythedog - yes you can, one ewok (preferably stuffed and mounted by a decent taxidermist) is more than enough for any sane person.

Nozza - now my phone won't let me view the pictures at all! I need a new phone.

Re: Nozza_uk turn 5 figures into 25!
« Reply #264 on: June 11, 2025, 10:28:11 AM »
This all started with the Stargrave: Death Vector pre-order, which included a sprue of Stargrave Scavengers II, allowing me to build 5 figures.

Whilst I love the versatility of these sprues, they always leave behind a lot of unused parts, so I try my best to minimize this plastic waste. To make use of the leftover pieces, I searched for compatible bodies and found someone selling Wargames Atlantic Cannon Fodder body sprues. A quick calculation led me to order two sprues, which would let me create 10 more figures using the remaining Stargrave parts.

Then came an unexpected complication. The seller had accidentally included the Cannon Fodder arms and equipment sprues under the receipt at the bottom of the box!

Now I had even more parts to work with.  ::)

To use them up, I turned to Anvil Industry and ordered a pack of 10 Stormtrooper Bodies. Combining them with the Cannon Fodder sprues, I built another 10 figures.

And just like that, 5 figures became 25!

Just as well Anvil didn't throw in any freebies lol

If you have any of the WW2 frames that come free (sometimes) with Wargames Illustrated, they are a perfect fit for swapping arms and bodies with the Stargrave kits

Re: Nozza_uk paints Bounty Hunters and more!
« Reply #267 on: June 23, 2025, 09:28:15 AM »
Got some solid painting time in last week, as I finished iconic Star Wars characters and outfitted some custom Stargrave minis.

Carasynthia “Cara” Dune, a tough-as-nails Alderaanian warrior with battle scars to prove it, once served as a rebel shock trooper before becoming a respected marshal of the New Republic - her loyalty forged in the fires of war.

Dengar, the grizzled Corellian bounty hunter wrapped in bandages and grim resolve, is a veteran of the galactic underworld, known more for brutal efficiency than for subtlety.

There’s also an IG-series assassin droid - painted in a bold blue inspired by IG-69 and IG-88B. Though built for cold precision, the vibrant hue gives it a striking, almost ceremonial presence.

And rounding things out: Bossk, a ruthless Trandoshan tracker with a legendary reputation. His full name, Bossk’wassak’Cradossk, might be a mouthful, but to anyone with a bounty on their head, he’s simply the last name they hear.

Four unique figures assembled using a fusion of Stargrave components and Anvil Industries bodies—each crafted as versatile NPCs or mercenaries-for-hire to populate our tabletop skirmishes.

The two characters positioned on the left hail from the same alien species. Whether they're kin, clanmates, or merely comrades-in-arms is a mystery the unfolding story will eventually decide.

Second from the right stands a cloaked figure directly inspired by Garindan ezz Zavor, the shadowy informant with the iconic "long snoot" who betrayed the droids’ location in Mos Eisley.

And on the far right: a figure gripping a sleek briefcase. Maybe he's a high-stakes courier on a covert delivery, or a corporate envoy who packs more than just negotiation tactics. The ambiguity makes him perfect for throwing a wildcard into a mission.

Meet the Grungetroopers! A gritty blend of Anvil Industry heads, Kromlech torsos, and Stargrave arms and designed as a fusion of Shoretroopers and Mimban Stormtroopers.

In my personal game canon, they serve as a hardened special operations unit deployed in the galaxy’s most hostile warzones. Clad in scavenged and modified armour, they blend the rugged resilience of Mimban Stormtroopers with the amphibious adaptability of Shoretroopers. Operating under direct orders from the Inquisitorius, these troopers serve as elite escorts and enforcers, ensuring the Inquisitors’ missions proceed without interference. Their presence signals that diplomacy has failed and that fear is the next weapon deployed.
