Thanks everyone.

Just the one model today, but it’s a big one… a StarWars Miniature At-At

It’s slightly out of scale…1/64th but works well without taking over the table.

This one had really yellowed due to sunlight, so I thought I’d give it a paint job…and at that point I started to play about with it, and decided to turn it into a wreck.

Apart from the damaged leg and the head tilt, I’ve pockmarked the hull, and added some trailing wires. The hull itself isn’t the easiest to work with, as it’s a bit thicker than what you’d encounter with a kit.

a group shot for sizing, with official SW Legion AT-ST, Biker and Stormtrooper

For anyone interested, there are a dozen screws on the underside of the model (not including the ones that hold the feet down). The legs are in pairs, but not reversible, so there isn’t a lot that you can do without major surgery in terms of leg position. However, once the dozen screws are removed, it reveals the “neck” which is secured to the body by another couple of screws. With a sharp saw you can alter the head position a bit, but it’s a shame a little more thought didn’t go into the join as it could have been made easier to vary the position.

Paint job: Primer, then base colour. Washes to pick out the panels, some highlights on the greys, then grubbed up. Varnished then rust added.

That’s very cool  8)

Shame there isn’t more ‘movement’ in the original really but I know converting static toys can be a mare  lol

Those hapless troopers at its feet better watch out, lest it topples over. They are hanging around on the dangerous side of this damaged AT-AT and it's already hanging its head in their direction after all...

Great PJ; it's convincingly rusted and looks just like any abandoned vehicle.
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Thanks everyone

A slight change of gear today, with a Mining Guild modified Tie Fighter…basically the old AMT/Ertl kit with the wings trimmed.

I’ve seen some images with the hazard stripes at the bottom of the wings and a Mining Guild logo at the top, but the texture of the wings doesn’t really lend itself to painting straight lines and I didn’t want to use stickers/decals on them.

Apologies for the untidy backdrop but my games room is currently a mess…too busy painting stuff to tidy it  lol

I'd say the background is perfectly suitable for the subjectmatter!  :D

It looks really good too btw 8)

I have the very same kit waiting for assembly. If you used the kit with two TIEs and a Deathstar base, that is.

The Mining Guild colours are a good call. I've always had a hard time imagining Imperial TIEs ending up in a scrapyard or for sale on some backwater world, so a sanctioned operator that is not the Empire would be ideal to put an actual TIE on the table.

My idea is to make one like Moff Gideon's, with folding solar panels, and to use the other to create two uglies, in combination with a couple of other kits, such as X- or Y-Wings...

Tie fighters look good in yellow.

What's the sand crawler you've got in the background there, it's enormous.

This has all the hallmarks of an Akula project ;D

Great conversion! I also found that variant of a TIE fighter in "civilian" use very appealing and couldn't resist to convert my own flight for X-Wing in 2018 before they released the model comercially. However I did the striping and logos according to jedipedia-lore (and of course a little dirty and run down -it's the mining guild after all) . If I remember correctly this was before they actually visually appeared in Rebels...
