Was in two minds about posting this project on LAF (too busy prepping minis and painting!)  but here goes……

War of the Roses, my second time around. Having been persuaded by Captain Blood to try out NMTB, I quite quickly assembled a few units. The ‘Blood Collection’ was also available for me to build an army from and so my efforts weren’t strictly necessary, but I wanted to get my head into the game and organising units can be great for that.

My first 44 minis were fielded as part of a 150 point force. Though I lost to the good Captain I really enjoyed NMTB and so have set out to complete my full army. Another 60 odd minis have now been assembled and I’m building up to painting them.

The army contains a lot of conversions as it’s been almost entirely cobbled together from my Bitz Box of scrap and half-finished minis from my long since sold on WotR (first time around) and Game of Thrones projects. The minis are almost entirely Perry, though I have used some Steel Fist and Athena, plus there’s my own sculpting contribution. Captain Blood kindly donated a sprue each of Perry Agincourt crossbows and knights (plus horses) which significantly increased the variety of assemblies, while I purchased two sprues of Perry Billhooks, as I was short a unit. Everything else is from the aforementioned Bitz Box.

In the meantime, here’s some snapshots of some of the completed 44:

Thanks Daryl  :)

In case of wider interest, here’s how the Army list is drawn up:

PS: I’m also making counters/tokens to match the army colours

Looking like a great new project.    :-*  NMtB got me inspired to start a WotR army (starting to talk in acronyms, scary!).

Thanks chaps.  :D

I know that unpainted minis aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but I find them quite motivating as the stage I most dislike is now behind me (I love assembling/converting/sculpting, I abhor cleaning/prepping, I love painting). Prepped minis rarely hang around waiting to be painted whereas unprepped ones can be sold off before they come out of their box.

Anyways here’s where I’m presently at, with a few quick photos of  shelves in one of my cabinets (all are described from left to right as viewed):

Bows, Bills, Bows, Bows, Crossbow Skirmishers

MAA, Leaders/Dignitaries/Acolytes, Field Artillery, Bills, Bows

Crossbow Skirmishers, Light Horse, Wagons/Wagoneers

Mounted/Dismounted Alternates, Counters/Tokens/Markers

Since assembling this lot, I’ve decided I need more banners so have a couple of knight sprues coming. Also, as the Army Commander is on foot but has a mounted alternate, for completeness he’ll also need mounted alternates for his banner and musician.
